Control Groups

I've been playing TFT for quite some time now and I'm not a "noob." Compared to many people I'm pretty good, but there is still one thing I don't know how to use: Control Groups. I understand that they are useful but I don't know how to use them correctly.

I'm a Night Elf player and I generally go Dryad and Bears, sometimes dotts. What control groups would be the best for this combo?

Thanks

Err I dont use NE that much, but this is what I would do in your case:
Ctrl1:1st hero
Ctrl2:2nd hero
Ctrl3:3rd hero
Control4:melee (DOTCs)
Control5:rangeds/casters
Control6: air
Control7: Tree of life
Control8: Ancient of war
Control9: Ancient of lore
If you put more than one type of unit in a group, It's easy to press TAB to alternate between them. for example when you have 5 DOTC in bear form and 2 on druid form.
hope that helps...

This is how I setup, but I constantly keep forgetting.

At the start, I just rally up all my units so they can move togehter. But when I hit high amounts of food, I do the following:

1 - the heroes (heavy melee optional depending on numbers).
2 - Melee if I have more than 7.
3 - ranged or special units like kodos (or when I play FFA, Raiders)
4 - casters

7-0, Any factories for units.

Ne:

1 - Heroes (hunts-bears optional)
2 - Hunts or bears if I have too many
3 - Dryads
4 - Other casters with air support (chims)

7-0, Construction Yards

I need to get into a habit of controlling my men better. However, if I see a hero or something I can take advantage of. I rally up my hero killers with the heroes I have and try to hero nuke. Making sure I don't press 0 by accident .

For sure keep caster groups together. So you can turn off autocasts and use manuals together if necessary.

I just use F1-F3 for heroes usually. I may use your CTL Group ideas though sir.

F1-F3 helps when you need to quickly access your hero without having to click thier icon on the top left corner. But the number keys are closer to WSAD.

I always put F1 as my main attack group + highest hero, then F2-4 as my other heros, if I have any others.

If not, then usually my secondary attack group, and then spellcasters.
