New map project

So i am working on a new map, heres a general idea as to what I want it to be like:

Players are space marines on a red planet, its all happy and nice up until the marines complete a mission. All heck breaks loose and monsters attack the facility. Your trapped in the facility and must find out whats going on.(if you guessed the storyline is similar to doom 3, gj)

Anyways, what i would like help with is:

triggers
map design(im hoping to do this on my own)
the like.

i think that sounds like a fun map, were you thinking like an rpg where you control a single marine hero or sorta squad based where you can use the marines and other units to fight the attackers? I think they would both be sweet following the classic storyline of doom 3
