It's a representation of an ability in the form of a small icon, located near the bottom of a unit's display in the Warcraft III game, when selected. Bloodlust's buff has a bloodlust icon and a small explanation of what it does.

This helps you know what affects a unit has on them and what they do, even if not familiar to the game/buff-affect

Ok, then that sounds great. Now what if I have an ability that I am using for a 'Grenade' item, but it stuns the units. can I remove this stun buff?

Most likely not, all you can do is reduce the duration to zero, regardless, it still interrupts spells and such, but there will be no lasting stun.

Reccomendation is to use another ability.

A buff is an art effect given off to represent a status effect. Example, the buff bloodlust makes your hands glow red and increase the Scaling Value of your character. Or Faerie Fire which puts crappy butterflies above your head.

If you make new spells that give an effect, you're better off editing the buff instead of editing the skill itself
