Warcraft III just got better...

As of today at around 5:40, a patch was added to 1.21 - now 1.21b.

There is only one change to this:

You no longer need the Warcraft III RoC or FT CD to play

In other words, click the exe and it opens. But you still need the CD to reinstall it. It's exactly how D2Loader is designed for, except that's for Diablo II and it's illegal.

What I think of this is a dream come true. Now Wc3's loading speed went from 6 seconds to 3 seconds for me, as all the libraries and MPQ are now inside the exe. However, this may open up a gateway for burned copies, as there may be no software that will detect if your game is a forgery or not.

Finally. This patch has been in development for ages now.

It is pretty much past the point where Blizzard is going to make much of a profit off of Warcraft III. This will probably create interest in returning to Wzrcraft III or Starcraft online since the patches have been released. smart strategy to get people back into at least opening up the game a few times before their next big hit comes.

Well they did it when it's dying, true. So far I've been using a mounted image with Daemon tools which still takes some resources, right?

I'm happy about this patch and this will be better than an image. I can uninstall Daemon tools and unmount it. I've been waiting for that patch 2 weeks ago, glad they made it eventually. Also even if now a burnt CD can also make it work, the most important for Blizzard and I agree is not the access to the game but the access to BNet. And cd-keys are like 80% of the game's price. As who will stay with single player and campaigns for long?? People are looking for BNet, no one cares if you can play single or not. Vs PCs lol... or Dota alone.

Ahahahahha. Do you know why I lose vs ud? I never put enough towers. I win vs hu, orc, elf w/o mass towers in exe or base, or with 0 towers. I also never liked the tanks and mass towers. I do it coz that turnt out to be the only way vs ud. So, I don't care about the reduction of Guard Towers. My style is 1 to no towers and mass attack. I wanna have a good Arcane tower (increased) coz peasants are so easily killed and they must not screw that tower. And if hu vs ud will never be mass towers and tanks, then how about we get:

- reduced armor/upg of Guard tower but then increased range
- increase Arcane tower's feedback by 10; armor +1
- nerfed DK coil's range
- Lich's nova to be damage capped
- fiends' missiles to be no longer they shoot once and kill a unit coz of missiles following..

Dests are not imba, aboms are not but fiends + dk... omg is that a race for newbs or? Then the game would be ok. Too bad nerfed towers may not only mean no towers+tanks vs ud but also no late t-rushes on orc and elf TT

And so far we've had many patches but there was no change in strats, since .. 1.18? Correct me if I'm wrong. 1.22 may bring changes to the strats, I hope for good and not to make players leave. The changes may be in hu vs ud, but hu vs orc,elf,hu will remain.

You still need a legit CD key to play the game. The CD allows you to have a legit CD key so you aren't restricted to just single player.

The only reason I suffer in the nukes is to the Lich, because of mass slow and he adds armor toi the Death Knight. As Pan said, no Lich - no problem.

I cannot recall a game now days that requires a CD. I have been using no-cd cracks for as long as possible now, but this is just way better. It is legit and I don't need to worry about fakes, or any kind of garbage like that. I just open and go. Finally.

Wonder if they are going to use this with all of there older games. I hope they do, because I am not going to be happy if I have to use the CD every time I want to play SC2.

Macromedia does it. You can download the trial version at thier site, and as long as you have a legit CD key, you can type it in and install it, and you will get the full version of it.

A few games like UT, Stalker, and now Starcraft have no CD requirements. It helps people who don't take care of thier CDs to play the game.

Yeah it is good for me. Since I play D2 Mods a lot, my Diablo II CD (which is pretty much damaged) can remain in the holder so I won't have to harm it.

1.22 is still in production, which is going to be more balanced based.
