CD cut by laser. Pls help.

I use my original disc for about 3-4 years and I dont know if these ****ty teeth of the box for holding the CD have caused it - you need to FIGHT with the cd to get it off the teeth as you bend the disc a little with FEAR of damaging it- anyway due to these teeth holding the disc too strong i dont put my CD in the original box. However, I saw that my CD has a CRACK - a REAL crack. It looks like a line.

So the line started with only milimeters - covering only the transparent ring. The CD has been in the ROM and it seems the laser has cut even BIGGER LINE day by day as the line went through the ring with the unique code and STARTED the silver-colourful part! Each time the ROM read the CD the line got bigger! I decided to stop it by putting little amount of transparent glue that is very strong (it can even snap your fingers together) that dries out in seconds covering only the transparent ring and with a very thin layer just to cover the crack - I repeat - it covered only the transparent part which is not read by the drive. And the line did not get bigger. As a result my CD was read slowlier than usual - i think not because of the glue but because of the line. And here came the bad part: Sometimes the CD cannot be read AT ALL. I clicked 'Retry' nothing happened. I tried to eject it - it didnt work! The CD has blocked the DVD ROM and I couldnt take the CD out of the dvd rom! It only worked and not every single time when i turned the computer off and if the DVD ROM started reading, otherwise if the green light of the ROM didnt blink there was no way to eject it.

I can still use my CD but sometimes causes that problem and the reading and starting of wc3 is slowlier. I decided to use Alcohol 120% as from Stormhawks' thread i read he made an image that didnt even require the disc to be insterted. However, some problems occured. I created an image but I cannot be sure about the Data Type of the Original War3 Frozen throne disc - this is needed and is mentioned in the Help - you need to know the Data type of the original disc - I dont know if you choose another but least of all the Image may not be recognized as an original. Options are up there Data Type.

Create an image using data type as 'securerom' I believe there's 3 of them. Just create one of each. Then try them out. One of them is it. I'm sorry I cant help specifically, it really depends on how old your WC3 cd is to which version of secureom it's using. When you go to mount the Image in Alcohol make sure you have the emulation settings all on.

I appreciate your attempts to help and thx for the info WingZero I needed that. Anyway I created the disc and when i tried to enter war 3 with it - it didnt accept it as original - Retry and Cancel. I need the way this has been made to work with Alochol every single step by step , detail by detail, option by option. Unfortunately I have to wait for this casual member TheStormHawk who enters once a year if at all. And I need everything from the first start of the program, the creation of the image and then the burning.

Alright thx. But do i need to reinstall wc cuz that woudnt be an option and how can I use your image that is 500MB? Also I can't be sure that the prob is in the image and not in the burning for which the CD RW doesnt copy the data needed to be read as original.

you can either use daemon tools or alcohol to make virtual drives to mount it no need to reinstall

Make a ROC image, its older and has less "security features" than the TFT, oh and use the last SecuRom (SecuRom* NEW (4/5/7)), make sure DPM (Data Position Management) is on High, and put the speed on 1x...it should take like 10 minutes

You have the game installed? Then just go download the universal Wc3 patch. Patch to the most current version and go get a no cd crack. If you can't seem to get the Images to work. PM and i'll send you links if you need. I cant remeber if that stuffs 'allowed' openly.

Im proud of having original discs... i didnt buy them to dl some cracks taken from god knows where soemtimes causing crashes or bnet not working. I have my own cd keys and i dont intend to use smth else when this costs $ and I have it... Blizzard offered me to spend 10$ on getting a replacement CD but im not in the USA, i dont like the idea of having to send something then receive a disc from 11 000 km or more. Not because of the distance, cuz the whole sending procedure looks uncertain to me.
