NtRik_'s right, you get the joy, in fact it's increased because you don't get to use it every game. They're best used PVT during nearly any long game, PVZ when you have stargates from Corsair DT, and PVP on large maps, sometimes with a base directly behind yours yet defendable by one choke.

I wouldn't use Carriers at all in PvZ. Interceptors are too susceptible to damage or death and Scourges rape Carriers.

yeah straight carriers die to scourges. I love watching some noob get a shiteload of carriers, then they all die to scourge in like three seconds. Very Humourous!
