I feel this topic should stay in this forum because this topic is about the UMS section of Battle.net.
I remember back in the old days(a couple years ago) newbies were actually respected in Battle.net. These days, there are so many game names "***** Defense, No Newbs" or "**** Defense, DL=ban"
When I first went into Battle.net, I use to play turret defense a lot and most games there were always atleast 1 newbie. Everyone in the game tried to help 'em. Now, people are saying - "haha, your a newb, just leave"
First of all, why would you want to have a game name "DL=ban". Most likely they're trying to beat the game with PRO's(or non DLers). Come on, most games are designed unbeatable. That's the fun in the game. If you beat a game, it won't be anymore fun playing the game ever again. Bounds for example. Most of them nobody has ever beaten. In fact, most people usually die on the first couple levels. That's the fun in the game. You die so quick, you just can't resist but play the game and try to get 1 level further.
I can't host games because of my router but if I ever can:
-If a newbie where to join, in the chatroom I'd tell him how to play.
-If a lagger were to join, I'd let him DL the map(even if his DL speed were real slow) Then, depending on the game(if it requires no lag) I'd ban him. I know this is somewhat crude in some people's world, but atleast I let him DL the map first so that he doesn't need to do it again and get banned by some other stupid game host.
I respect "newbies"(now is a derogative term) which is why I don't protect my maps and which is why I help them in this forum.
All of this happens in the UMS section of Battle.net.
And as I said before and I have YET to be proven wrong -

well i mostly do that when i want a good good game. u no to finalyl get to the end so that i can see what happens. but after a while and having beating it several times noobs started to make an entrance to me games, i helped them out and soon they got it and we beat it together. it's just sometimes ppl just wants to win for once. only way to do that, is to have other really good players, not someone who hasn't even see this kind of map

As I said before, my harddrive crashed so I lost all my maps. So I have to download all the maps again. I know how to play them, just don't have them.

What about the people who jsut bought the game. Just cause they havent been playing it doenst mean they should suffer.

Bnet is full of life's rejects. When I still palyed sc, I hated those stupid games where they said no noobs blah blah. Everyone was a noob at one point, and the only way to get better palyers is to have the noob learn.

I'm also sick of the constant dick-size contests on battle.net. I've been playing StarCraft since '99 and I still can't do a lot of things. I try not to care, since StarCraft is, well, A GAME. It's designed to be a time-waster and a source of entertainment. People on battle.net should just lighten the hell up.

hmm that never happened to me, but they do ask common things on the map that we are about to play. there are some maps where u dont really need expert players and that even a noob can win.like i found this special forces maps where if u find the secret, u get 255 of everything cuz u got a shit load of cash.so noobs can play that game, get a feel for it, and get used to palying other sf maps

LMAO! It's halarious. I have DSL and I joined a "No DL" game. I think it was a bound game. I think it was Jail Break 8 or something. Lmao. My download went up 30 percent a second. After 3 seconds of waiting, I got up to 90 and got banned. Haha. ****ing dumb***. Can't bare to wait another second? Hahaha. It's a world of dumb***es. Master Virus, I have a router too and I can't create games. It doesn't really matter. I only get banned from the gay maps.

Is your download slow? A lot of people ban laggers. What map are you trying to get? Maybe I can get it for you if I can find it.

i used to have a router that ddint'allow me to sc at all. only way was to disconnect the line from the modem to the router, and connect it back to the computer. now i got a new router and it works for me it's made by netgear if ur intrested

I do it all the time, people are like 'holy crap, you lag, but you can dl!' then they ban me, then I come back on another name, and just lag em to hell (Using a crappy ass computer that can bearly handle SC and it's on AOL Dialup ) -- They deserve that.

You're not doing the world a favor by bitching about how SC Games are unjust and unfair. Go to google, search for "Starcraft: Maps" and download one of the giant 1000+ map zips...It's what I did with WC3 when I reinstalled it....

All the ****ing gay sites that have such a big ass map database all contain really old maps that nobody download. Why would your waste your space uploading crap that nobody plays and download.

When I first went into Battle.net, I never got called a newb and got banned and all that crap stuff. So I want to return the favor back to the newbies by not calling them a newb and not banning them and all the good stuff.
We don't need the habbits of Battle.net gamers to leak into the real world. We must prevent them. Too bad I can't go on a mass ban.

Is your download slow? A lot of people ban lagers. What map are you trying to get? Maybe I can get it for you if I can find it.

I guess it never occurred to you that perhaps the game host was looking for experience not trying to single out lagers. And further more watching how fast some one downloads a map isn't a way to test lag (not in the slightest)

When you download a map in the game chat window you are downloading from a specific user also in that game. Contradictory to popular believe, everyone does NOT download from the host. The download connection is made on a peer to peer basis.

When one person is downloading one other person is uploading. When they finish both people who have the map will upload to two more players and the pattern continues like that. It is impossible for your download to be faster than the upload therefore if a 56k user already has the map, the person downloading from him will receive the map slowly, and likely get banned because of it.

If you pay attention to this, it explains a lot about the downloads that people don't get. Like how a person will download a lot faster after rejoining (downloading from a different user), or the download freezes (uploader leaves). It’s a really simple concept, yet it seems no one is aware of it.

PS. When your banned from a game simply switching acounts will not allow you back in the game. If you are able to join it is because the person opened the slot you were in instead of banning you.

Bolt not a lot of people know about that but hey it sucks ass when you get banned because you have cable and you dl off a 56k'er but on this whole thing i could go either way ya we have all been newbs once but society changes and the game is old as hell but also society needs to not be such dick head at times and as some of you said let them dl then ban them but on the newbie thing i dont care about ums but on melee i dont really want a newb on my team he should learn melee before he plays on b.net melee my personal view but as i said i could go either way because i hate getting banned when i want a map or being called a newb when its the same map you have just another version that someone saves it under... i hate that...
