| Well, first we have to know what kind of sounds you want. Just random sound effects, or what? Xx_DarKGhost_xX

| So the map is called _______ or is that some kind of censoring? The main place I look for sounds (when I can't rip them from any games or don't have them somewhere in my downloads) is none other than google. Just type the sound type your looking for and 'wav' as the keywords and then keep looking around till you find what you want.

| Wow that was stupid. Anyways I got a q. There is a way to make sounds take up no space in ur map, but I forgot it. Does anyone know how its done? I saw it at staredit.net, but they are rebuilding right now.

| yes there is a program called Starcraft free sounds, it loads the sound from the mpq file itself so it doenst take any map space.
Its a great program but you can only take starcraft sounds. |

| Are u sure only sc sounds? (btw thanks for the link heimdal). Cause when i look at some maps, and extract the sounds, they got stuff from trailers that equates to almost a meg of sound.

| MPQ Compression can greatly reduce the size of a WAV, but the only way to add a sound with absolutely zero effect on the map is to use SC Free Sounds (or another method of "free sounds" with the same effect), and these sounds can only be from StarDat.mpq, BrooDat.mpq, or the install.exe on either the broodwar or starcraft CDs.

| Well then what about this though. Its fromt he blizzforums. the thead was Sc Free Sounds Problems.
Don't use SC Free Sounds. Just get SCM Toolkit, open string table editor and replace the string with the one with the whole path.
Here's what you should do:
Save your map in your editor, and make a backup copy
Import a wav. Any wav.
The trigger you want the bnetclick to play, set it to play the wav you imported.
Save the map. Leave your backup copy intact.
Open SCM Toolkit. Load your map. Enter the string table editor.
Find the string. Change it from staredit\wav\___.wav to sound\glue\bnetclick.wav
Save your map.
Open WinMPQ, Load your map, find the wav file that you imported as a placeholder.
Delete it.
Compact the MPQ.
Test it if it works with Starcraft.
I tried it and it worked for me.
I hope I was able to help.

| Thanks Tuxedo Templar! I should've asked for help on getting sounds, but well it worked out. I can't wait for my Final Fantasy X RPG to be done with. Not even close to being done. Thanks again for the help Tuxedo Templar.
