| Stardraft doesn't work with 1.10... If some of you have already noticed, StarDraft is 0% compatible with StarCraft neither StarEdit if we have installed patch 1.10. This means we can't use, create, modify, or anything related with modding. This includes creating maps. However I know 2 map editors that still work: SCXE and SCMDraft. But I have problems for each of these
SCXE : I found it to be a great map editing tool but when you use hidden AI Script (I use "Turn On/Off share vision to...") somehow the map can't be saved as SCM, it only wants to be save as SCX (Broodwar Scenario) and I also have checked that there's no any Broodwar units or triggers (if there is, it should appear in "compatible list" before we save, but it doesn't). I also have tried to rename the extension from .scx to .scm but it doesn't work either, Starcraft can't read it.
SCMDraft : Although it's a good tool, there are some annoying things I found. If we open map with units name has been changed (e.g: "Terran Marine" changed to "Soldier") , SCMDraft will set it all to default again. And there's also some weird terrains appear on top left side of the map and if I try to edit that it will just create another weird terrain.
Do any of you have a solution for this problem? I can't work on my map because of the patch and the StarEdit mod...

| For SCXE:
Use guedit and save it as a .scm.
For ScmDraft:
When you open up it will say like 4 numbers and boxes keep appearing. That is the problem with ScmDraft:Beta. Or the problem could be just you double clicked on the map. Next time click on the map and click on open. Sd:Alpha is better than beta.

| I have followed your suggestions for both SCXE and SCMDraft and I have tried using guedit and save it as .scm but when I try to play this map in Starcraft it doesn't work because it said it's for StarCraft expansion set...

| That's what I thought. I knew it wouldn't work. It's just something I could think of. |

| Hmm... got saving from .scx to .scm... remove the ai script.
the script your using is a broodwar script (never used in sc origina)
this is why you cant save as .scm give it up.

| I found a solution about this AI script...uninstall SC, reinstall SC, edit map with XHackedit, and install patch 1.10 again. Sounds odd but that's what I can think of...

| listen kid, why are you trying to even use bw scripts for a .scm map? They will mjost likely be not playable on b.net without a modd of some sort.

| Those Vision script aren't BW script, they're SC script. But for some odd reasons SCXE thinks it's BW script. If you don't believe me try to do the last solution I said and I know it will works 100% on b.net....I've tried it, and some maps I've downloaded has these scripts...well said...

| Hmm im not going to take the extra time to check, but i'll just trust your word that they are sc scripts.
SCXE changes from .scm to .scx very commonly not always for the units and things. I'd advise you to just get BW and not have to deal with all this.

| I've got a solution to your problem:
Don't be cheap, and dish out the $5-10 cost for Brood War.
Install it, and you can now play .scx and .scm maps.
Seriously, Broodwar and SC combined are $10 at bestbuy. |

| battlechest aint 10 dollahs no matter where u go.. I saw it for 18 at costco. which is still unreasonably good.
stardraft does not work with windows XP, I used it with 1.07 and it stopped working for me when I got XP, which was in 1.08. oh well, there are replacements for it. still my favorite program
I use a program called Emerald2. still dont know what it is, I just like the layout a lot more than xtra's layout. and im used to it. |
