Starforge help Please

Hey im just starting to make a new map. I know most of the basic map editing (like the triggers) but I am just starting on Starforge and X-tra. I hearded from someone else that you can do terrain on starforge, triggers on X-tra, and units on either. My little problem is that i finished my map's terrain on starforge, and I can't open it on X-tra. To go more in depth, I only used 3 types of terrain on starforge, I saved the file on Broodwar Only (thats the only thing I am able to select), and when I open X-tra it says that the map isn't able to be opened and I should check to see if it is a valid starcraft file. Thanks in advance. Wish me luck with making my map =P.

1. Did you protect your map?
2. Resave it without protection, but before you release it protect it if you want.

Sorry if it sounds a noob question but how do you protect/unprotect? I'm not used to some vocabulary of starforge yet.

O.o sorry if I phrased my question wrong but how do you get to the place where you can choose to protect and unprotect.

And to hit 2 bird with one stone, my second question is that sometimes when I go to make locations, I creat a name and it doesn't show. When i go back to look at it, the name slot is blank. This also happens when i am naming units.

Okay, time for the "SC Goto Guy" to step in and help...

First mistake... Using Starforge. While it is a good program for SQUARE terrain, it is **** for everything else. When I was using it to make square terrain, every so often when I saved the file, SF would corrupt the file and thus it could only be opened in SF. I got tired of this and stopped using it, I recommend you do the same.

I highly recommend that you use only two programs for making maps, these two are...

StarCraft X-tra Editor 2.5 - I use this for Location placement and Trigger editing. The trigger "editor" in it is like the one found in the classic StarEdit that came with the game, only it has a LOT more function.
and
SCMDraft 2 0.6.0 Prerelease 1 - I use this for everything else. Terrain, both Isometric(the triangle shape "brush") and square. Unit placement, etc...

Those are the two programs I use to make maps, and I've been making maps since SC was released, those are the best two I've found to date. Many would argue that X-Tra 2.6 is better then 2.5, my argument is 2.5 is more stable then 2.6, even with 2.6's "Fix patch."

So, remove Starforge, download and install SCMDraft 2 and have some fun with it.

If you need any more help, ask me and I will probably have a solution for ya.

Starforge sucks, it's only good for triggers, and I've heard it sucks for that too.
Use campaign editor for terrain.
Unless you are going for special terrain.
