Pylon aura

is the pylon aura a unit and will take up map space?

Wait, what? To my knowledge the pylon aura is simply synthetic, and cant be placed, and also doesn't take up space.

You place the pylon aura in the sprite layer. Therefore it's not a unit. What do you mean by "take up map space?"

Are you asking for the max sprites allowed in a scenario? Well, I know the max doodads allowed is 200.

You still need to clarify what "space" you're talking about. If you mean physical space so that other units cannot walk through it, then no - no sprites take up this physical space. Any data in your map will make it larger, so yes, it takes up disk space. And there is some limit on the number of sprites you can have in the map. I'm not sure what that number is, but it's much higher than 200.
