Need To Retrieve My CD-Key

Ok, so the new patch came out for starcraft, tried to install; automatically and manually.

And I get

Quote:
Blizzard PrePatch v2.62 compiled on Mar 27 2003
This program patches Starcraft Broodwar

Log created at 4:38 pm on 01/16/2008

Registry error loading key 'Starcraft\InstallPath'
The system cannot find the file specified.

RESULT: Prepatch failed

It tells me to re-install it, but I can't because I lost the cases...still have the CDs and can play one player, but how do I still retrieve the CD-Key from the install folder...

Re: Need To Retrieve My CD-Key

You don't actually need to reinstall. On the last StarCraft patch, I finally got motivated enough to make a StarCraft InstallPath generator which fixes this problem:

StarCraft InstallPath Generator

Just input the directory, download the file, and open it.

Re: Need To Retrieve My CD-Key

Nope, but I did a quick search for 'application version' and I'm not the only person with the problem, yet there wasn't a solution...

Are you using Vista?

You should also try the steps here:

If you still have a problem, re-post this on that forum with a link to here.

Re: Need To Retrieve My CD-Key

Hmmm, where there is a problem...I would like to register on the forums, but I need a battle net account, and its been a while since I used battle.net, so I have no account, since I can't get pass this unable to verify application version.

So, lets see..

1.Not using Vista
2. Found My CD-Key, Able to Re-install
3. Scanned with Kaspersky (free trail, Full, Rootkit, Startup Scan)
4. Scanned with Fix Wareout
5. Scanned Spybot Search& Destroy
6. Ran A Ram Test
7. Ran A Scan Disk; Drive Came Back 'Clean'
8. Even Shut Down Every Single Program, through the task manager, including **** I can't see, including 'explorer,' and the only thing was running was starcraft..
9. Even tried someone else's brood war CD....
10. Even tried to play it in Safe Mode with Networking..

Still can not verify application version....

But you know what I tried, AFTER doing all these, using the Brood War CD...I am able to connect to battle.net on the original starcraft, but still can not connect on brood war battle.net, get that application version issue.... same CD though....
