The Dragonis War

Thaltos locked blades with Vaal and strained with all his might as the much stronger dragonman drove him backwards towards a wall. Thaltos knew that if became cornered, it would be over. Mobility was his greatest ally in this fight, and it must be protected with equal sanctity of his own life.

A thought came to him, and he triggered a decent shock in the Shears of Atropos, which was conducted down Vaal's own blades to send a pulse of electricity through his arms, numbing them with a quick jerk and causing him to lose his grip on the weapons. The blades no longer supported by his massive strength, Thaltos' own scimitars pushed them back and embedded about an inch deep into the thick, armorscaled hide of the Drakotaur's chest, where they began to siphon the energy from his body.

Vaal roared with pain and fury. Already recovering from the shock, he grabbed Thaltos about the waist with both clawed hands and lifted him high above his head before throwing him a couple dozen yards to the stone of the plaza on which they had earlier battled. His own weapons gone, sent spinning off when Thaltos tipped the balance, Vaal grabbed the Shears of Atropos and ripped them out of his own chest.

Twin lines of his blood running down his chest, Vaal looked at the Shears and chuckled. Playfully brandishing them, he triumphantly stalked towards Thaltos, who was laboriously pushing himself up off the ground.

"It has been a long time since I felt the deadly bite of these blades for the first time...tell me little Champion, have you ever felt it yourself?"

Thaltos got to his knees by the time Vaal reached him and lifted up onto his hind legs to raise one of the Shears for a killing blow. Thaltos reached out and triggered the energy in the unraised weapon in Vaal's left hand. It tore loose from his grasp as Vaal started to bring his arm down, and Thaltos grabbed it and drove it hard into the barrel of Vaal's lower body right under his front legs.

Vaal spasmed in pain and stopped his strike, as the energy flowed out of him and into the blade, and Thaltos narrowed his eyes. As they began to shine with crimson energy, he slowly spoke.

"No. And you will not be the one to enlighten me."

Thaltos cut loose with his fully-powered Gorgon Stare at point blank range, the beam hitting Vaal flat in the abdomen, its effect triggering instantly at point of impact and spreading throughout the rest of his body. As his flesh quivered and grayed, freezing in place, Vaal roared in rage and agony.

As the Gorgon magic finished its work, and the flow of energy from Vaal stopped, so too did Thaltos' Stare. He slumped to the ground at the feet of the frozen statue of Vaal in the middle of the strike that would have ended his life, and collapsed.

Tsubaki noticed that the loud roaring she had been hearing had stopped. She located the area to which she had heard it and saw Thaltos."Come on big guy this is not a place to rest." She kindly smiled putting one of Thaltos' arms around her shoulder and lifting him to stand. Despite her look Tsubaki was strong. She carried rather dragged Thaltos toward Akira for healing.

Asakai had moving th evillagers toward the exit of the town. Unecessary death was messy to clean up unless you killed everyone. She contemplated that thought rather a lot in this case."I said move that way!" She yelled glaring at the villagers with the most demonic energy she could pour out."I'lll take it from here." Gojyo gave a smile to his daughter."Your assitance is not needed." She glared at him pushign more villagers out towards the exit."That's no way to talk to your ol' man.." He helped move the villagers as well."You are not my father." She glared coldly at him."I do not need your help now go!" She shoved him into the crowd roughly still giving him the coldest glare she could. She held her chest.'...this pain...'she winced.

Torque was helping Asakai evacuate the local villagers when he saw she was in some sort of pain. He rushed towards her, putting a hand on her shoulder gently. "Love, what's wrong?" He asked her, concern in his eyes. He looked up, seeing Thaltos victorious over Vaal but Balthizar was still fighting. He turned his attention back to Asakai, trying to find out what ailed her

Balthizar was on the defensive, as was most of the fight since a while ago.

"Your attacks are becoming desperate, what's wrong little Balthizar? Can't defeat your own brother!? Alkalor said as he laughed maniacly.

"You are no longer my brother Alkalor! You are just a hollow shell of your former self! And I curse Daemon for ever using you in his army, it's the reason I join him, to save you!" Balthizar yelled this with tears streaming down his face.

Balthizar's arms sarted to fall, suddenly becoming unable to bear the weight of his swords.

Ands that's when Alkalor saw his chance, he charge in and stabbed Balthizar through the chest.

"Well, I guess this is the end of you, isn't it, brother." Alkalor said coldly.

"Not...necessarily...." Balthizar said with a bloodly grin. he then took Hibiki and Michi with the last remaining strength he had, and sliced his brother's head off.

"Goodbye Alkalor.....my....brother....." Balthizar said softly, still tears streaming down his face, and then Balthizar collapsed.

Balthizar saw a bright light, he knew what it was, it was the afterlife, and he was ready to embrace it.

Balthizar thought, I guess you got what you wanted Daemon, you spawn of a hellwhore.....

[Asakai-miko-Midoriko]

"I don't know what you're talking about...." Sh espoke nto even looking at Torque. Gojyo had managed to fight his way back through."Hey what was that for!? You shouldn't push your father around like that."He spoke putting a hand on her shoulder. She violently smacked the hand away looking the meanest she ever had."You are not...my father." She walked away her anger very clear. Tsubaki had worked her way over to Torque with Thaltos and laid the large man on the ground."He needs rest but there isn't much more I can do.It's up to the Gods." She spoke kneeling down by him. she noted Asakai was no where. She figured she had gone off to help others in her party.

She had stormed off.'How dare he!? He has no right to call himself my father!'She growled internally. She ended up stopping when she hit balthizar's body. Welll more like fell over his body. She felt his skin and it was cold. She heard a voice in her head.'...you have an option...to let him die or to try and save him..or you could walk away.'"...let him die.....I..could let him die...." She spoke nearly silent. She looked at Balthizar and something inside her wanted her to walk away...after all it wasn't her fault he was dying.

Torque felt suddenly hurt that she didn't even address him. He sighed and then saw Balthizar dying on the ground. He rushed to his companion. "Balthizar! Wake up, Who else is going to beat Daemon but you?" He shouted.

There it was again that pain."Should I...maybe I shouldn't...maybe he wants to die...?" She looked at Torque confused."S-should I help him?"'Leave him weakness is not acceptable.' her mind called out to her.'...Let him die he is of no use if he can not live...' She held a hand to her head.

Balthizar heard a faint voice, ....Balthizar! Wake up, Who else is going to beat Daemon but you....., he soon realized it was Torque. Balthizar suddenly stopped wanting to go to the light, he started thinking about the people he was partied with, his friends. He knew his duty, and he was not going to let himself die.

A little late for that, isn't it Balthizar? he heard that evil voice speak to him again.

Never late for anything Daemon Balthizar replied in his mind.

I beg to differ, you are bleeding profusely from the chest, your death is iminent Daemon taunted.

Balthizar couldn't reply, he started to lose consciousness.

The faint light started to return.

[Asakai-miko-Midoriko]

She shakily placed her hands on Balthizar's chest.She closed her eyes and began to channel herself."...I think I shoudl save him."She spoke before that white light from beforeslowly began to rise around her.Her white wings became more visible. She began to delve into Balthizar's mind.'Balthizar...you have to coem to me if you want to live.' She spoke to him her image reachign a hand out to him.

Balthizar was starting to be pulled away from the light, he was slightly puzzled why, he didn't really care much, at the moment he felt a strange warmth filling his entire body, he started to regain consciousness.

He opened his eyes, and what he saw was Asakai and Torque looking down apon him, more importantly, there was no more wound in his chest, just a mark that was barely visible, and was fading away at the moment.

He groggily spoke, "Thank....you...my....friends...", then Balthizar passed out.

Torque smiled as Balthizar came back to the world of the living. "You're welcome, friend. Glad to have you back." He said and then pulled Asakai close by an arm around her shoulder. "She is the one who healed you, I didn't do much"

[Asakai-miko-Midoriko]

She looked away blushing."...anyone else would have done the same." She spoke softly. Asakai stood up brushing a few locks of dark brown hair form her eyes. She turned walkign straight into her father."Hey you okay kid?" He asked sounding very concerned. She shoved him into the ground before walking off again. Gojyo looked at Torque."Did I do something wrong?"

It wasn't long before she found her mother and Thaltos."We're just waiting for him to wake up. Otherwise Akira and I have sealed his wounds." her mother smiled looking at her. "...not that I care..." She spoke dully. She took a seat next to a tree." Asakai...he is travelign with you is he not? You should care about everyone in your party no matter what." He mother frowned slightly."...I haven't made a habit of listening to dead people and I'm not about to." Once again that cold voice rose out of her."...I see.Asakai I believe you are deeply mistaken when it comes to living....as of right now I'm more alive than you'll ever be."

Torque frowned when Asakai walked off but he decided he'd tend to Balthizar to assure his friend's recovery. Gojyo had asked Torque if he did something wrong and Torque shrugged. "Women tend to cling on to the memories of the past more than men, especially the painful, dark ones. I doubt she'll want to speak to you as father-daughter for a very long time."

[Asakai-miko-Midoriko]

Gojyo sat up sighing."...and thus why women are so entertaining." Gojyo let his weapon vanish."So...this is little Balthizar?...He looked more firey evil last time I saw him." Gojyo poked at his arm."Now he's just spongey....I'm thinking we should probally move him out of here..since he seems to be the target."Gojyo looked at Torque.

"....dattebayo.."(Translation: That's that. and no it does not mean believe it!!) Asakai chastised."...I will ignore that little remark seeing as how you must be upset." Tsubaki stood and with Akira's help transported Thaltos over towards where Balthizar was."...Like I said earlier you both can leave you are not needed. "Asakai glared deeply."Well you're stuck with us." Gojyo spoke looking over his shoulder."I know this must be strange to see us but please Asakai don't make us leave." Tsubaki put a hand on her shoulder."Go to hell...and this time don't come back you pricks."Asakai shoved the hand away brushing past her mother nearly knocking her over and kneeling over by Balthizar again.

Torque shrugged at Gojyo's statement and then dragged Balthizar (since he is not nearly as strong as Thaltos) to the shelter of a tree nearby. He looked around, sensing something...empty. He felt a strange emptiness, a void in the world nearby so he went to investigate. The closer he got, the more he regretted going. He then came across a man with silver hair with gold streaks and wore armor that looked to have seen countless battles. "Who are you?" He asked, slowly half-drawing the ebony blade of Deathscream.

((Leaving for a family reunion, be back in a couple days.))

The man regarded Torque, staying wary of Torque's blade. "Peace, stranger. Had I wished to do battle with you, we would have locked blades at least hours ago." His voice was like a choir of Angels, but his tone would have stopped most people in their tracks; it was neither cold nor heated, but empty; simply devoid of meaning. "I am more interested in you and your allies. It takes more than a few mortals to stop a Planeswalker," he stopped and took a better look at Torque before continuing, "and even more to anchor him to a plane."

He drew back his cloak, flourishing two blades: one hung from his back, its scabbard strapped across his chest loosely, the hand-and-a-half, elegant hilt, silver as cold moonlight, coming out behind his left shoulder; the other was sheathed in a scabbard that hung on his waist, almost on his back, its hilt, black as the dead night, jutting out up and to the right.

"Who are you, and why have I been brought here?"

Balthizar started to stir to consciousness.

He felt a strange feeling....a feeling he'd never once felt before.
He felt the soul of a newcomer, a soul that was empty. Not evil, nor good, just empty, like the man was wiped of all memories.

Balthizar sat up slowly. He made his way to Torque, as his eyes refocused after being unconscious for so long, he saw the other whose soul he felt devoid of memory.

He spoke, although quietly, as his throat was dry, "Hello Torque...making friends as usual, eh?".
