The Dragonis War

Thaltos chuckled slightly as well. "Yes, but remember that each one of us is someone's child. Even the mighty Zeus, my own father, was born of another. But yes...I've never had much tolerance for familial disputes either. However, this dispute is indeed familial, and unless Torque calls to our aid I believe it to be best that we stand aside and allow them to resolve it themselves. Don't you agree?"

Torque grit his teeth and took a step forward. "She is not some possession you can just keep, Gai. She is a human being like you and me. No one owns any other person." He said and took another step forward. "But if you want to play it that way, then let's play." Torque said and as the sun had finally set, his face turned into that of a madman and he cackled maniacally and disappeared into the night air, as if he had faded from existence. His laughter echoed through the night around Gai.

"This looks to be one interesting battle, seems our friend Torque has a couple tricks up his sleeve. I am quite impressed, quite impressed indeed. What say you, Thaltos?" Balthizar smiled.

[Asakai-miko-Midoriko]

((SHould I keep beign Gai or do you wanna take over Dan?))

"Finally you show your true colors. This is the battle I've been waiting for." Gai gave a smile before getting into stance."I've never fought with something occupying my arms but it'll make it more of a challenge." Gai gave a cool laugh.

'Wake up stupid body!' Asakai screamed in her mind.' Wake the hell up!' She yelled even louder.'I am a demoness! I'm not weak!I'm not weak!' She spoke nearly desperate.

Thaltos chuckled, playing along with the "musing bystander" role that Balthizar had apparently adopted for the two of them. Crossing his arms and chuckling heartily, he leaned over to Balthizar in a confidential manner and spoke sideways to him in a casual, "overcivilized" sort of voice.

"Yes indeed, quite impressed. It's not every day that one witnesses a surprise such as this. There is quite much more to our companion than first imagined. This shall be a right good show, what?"

"Glad I reserved my spot!" Balthizar said as he laughed loudly.
"If I hadn't, I'd be missing quite the show." Balthizar continued as he relaxed against a tree.

Torque's laughter still echoed through the night air and suddenly gusts of wind rushed at Gai, slashes of air attacked all sides around him, but none aiming towards Asakai. Torque's movements were calculative and surprisingly accurate. It was up to Gai to dodge his brother's attacks somehow. Torque was relentless, fueled with rage against his brother, and the fact he kidnapped someone important to him. The Shadow Meld ability also added wood to the fire by harnessing that anger and putting it forth into borderline madness.

There was a bright glow before the wind blades dispursed in every direction."Tsk Tsk. Dear dear brother you see I have something worth quite a lot. This little girl here believes I'm you. So it seems she is protecting me....as far as I'm concerned I'm going to keep her. Apparently there is a demon willing to pay quite a penny for her....but no worries I don't intend to use her to kill you." Gai balanced Asakai as he smirked holding his other hand out to send waves of light towards Torque.

Torque grunted and dodged a light wave just barely. Being one with the night was hard work and this was the second time he did this technique. "Gai, when did you sink so low as to need help with a fight?" His voice echoed in the night sky. It seemed to come from everywhere, making it very hard to discern where he actually was. "I know you and you like to fly solo." He said then another wind blade came from behind Gai followed by two more towards his side.

Once again Asakai's body glowed sheilding him."True...I do enjoy the kill alone..would you prefer I kill her?" Gai held Asakai up his hand around her neck ready to snap it."I could kill her right here...it would be of no loss to me." Gai smirked gripping on Asakai's neck.

There was rustling behind Thaltos before a young boy emerged though he looked more like a girl. The boy looked at Asakai before shouting,"Lady Asakai!!!" He tried to rush after her.

Thaltos gave a burst of speed and grabbed the boy about the midsection, lifting him clear up. Tossing him in the air with enough spin so that he caught him again under the armpits and could look into his face, Thaltos scolded the child.

"I don't know who you are or how you know Asakai, but it's not advisable to go running into that fray. There's some intense fighting going on, and it's no place for a child. Now, who are you and what are you doing here?"

Thaltos sternly gazed into the child's eyes, inducing enough paralysis to cease the child's struggling and calm him down.

Torque grunted. "No, just put her aside, she does not need to be in this battle." He said. "You're not one to have shields either." He said then reappeared beside his brother. "Give her to me and I'll take her back to my friends so we can settle this like it was destined to be."

[Asakai-miko-Midoriko]

"Put me down please Lady Asakai needs me. My name is Akira....I am here to help Lady Asakai." He looked at Thaltos seriously. The boy was average looking light skin long black hair pulled into a braid and emerald eyes. He was an average teen for the time."I'm not a kid I'm fourteen. Now please Lady Asakai is in need."

"She means something to you then. That's all I need. For now let's make this interesting." He threw Asakai to the side as the roots of the forest entangled her grippign her tightly."For every minute you fail to defeat me the girl will slowly be suffocated. The life squeezed out of her.After all every battle needs entertainment." Gai smirked before sending blades of dark energy right at Torque with full force.

Thaltos glared sternly at Akira.

"It is not your place to help Asakai. There is likely little you could do...however..."

He put the child down, a hand on his shoulder to keep him in place. Thaltos had promised to allow Torque to confront his brother without his aid...but he had made no promises about helping Asakai without confronting Gai.

Thaltos took the Shears from his back and faded back into the trees with a final warning to the child telling him to stay put.

As Gai and Torque busied themselves fighting one another and Akira watched him, Thaltos moved through the trees quickly and silently around to where Asakai was being strangled.

Standing above the roots that held her bound, Thaltos raised his blades and muttered an invocation of his father's name, and brought down the blades into the roots. If it lives, the Shears can kill it.

As the blades buried themselves in the thickest of the roots that was crushing Asakai, they started to do their deadly work, draining the energy that animated the plant. The energy was not electricity, and therefore could not be used by the Shears for energy-based attacks, but nevertheless their purpose was the extinguishing of all life, and they siphoned the life from the roots that held Asakai.

As their life drained away, the roots weakened and stopped thrashing, and before long they were limp enough for him to resheath the Shears across his back and tear them away with his hands. Picking Asakai up, he faded back into the trees. Behind him, Gai realized that his prize had been taken, and from the sound of the cry he made, he was not pleased.

But alas, Thaltos and Asakai were gone, faded into the shadows of the trees and working their way back around to where Akira stood waiting.

"Lady Asakai!" Akira jumped around happily hugging the still unmoving girl. That's when Asakai stirred she opened her eyes slowly."...mhm..mmm..." She mumbled sitting up slowly holding her head."Thank you sir!" Akira bowed to Thaltos in appreciaiton.Then there was a loud smack as Akira collieded with the ground."..Foregive me Lady Asakai." Akira was on hands and knees bowing."Get up.Explain yourself Akira...What did I tell you before I left?" Asakai stood arms folded. Akira stood looking down."Not to follow you...but Lady Asakai I had to come after you....I had no where else to go..." Akira spoke still not making eye contact."...We're goign to have a long talk about this later..." She grabbed Akira's ear dragging him over to Thaltos."Please do me another favor...Go to the next town I'll stay here and observe Torque. I still have a debt to pay...Take the runt wiht you. We'll meet up with you shortly....by the way..thank you." She turned walking away from the two and standing off near by observing the battle.

Thaltos nodded. "No problem, Asakai...just don't get yourself captured again. I'll be too far away to help you again."

Turning to Balthizar, he tilted an eyebrow. "Don't even think you're not coming with me. Until you've earned the trust of the Gods, you're in my care. You're coming with us."

Without allowing Balthizar to protest, Thaltos gave him a friendly shove in the direction of the nearest town. Balthizar started to object, but decided to go along peacefully, as much as he'd have liked to watch the battle between the brothers.

Together, the three of them walked through the trees towards town.

Torque battled Gai fiercely, still unaware that Asakai was freed by Thaltos. The ebony blade of Deathscream clashed against Gai's blade and the two brothers each sent their own kinds of magic at each other. Torque used Dark Fire whilst Gai used Dark energy. Torque's bleached hair was matted with sweat and his eyes bent in fury and concentration. "Gai...damn you for leaving us and damn this family curse! The curse that says we are fated to kill each other, there can only be one Dragonis child." He grumbled and then leapt at his brother, bringing the ebony blade downwards.

Akira was about to protest when Asakai gave him a glare and he quietly followed Thaltos. Meanwhile Asakai tried to stand by calmly she knew battles for honor were difficult to observe. "This would be shocking if I had not previously seen a battle like this before...." Even then it had been hard to watch.

Gai Gave a growl before slamming his blade against Torque's and slammung him into the nearest tree."Say hello to mother for me when you see her in the next life." Gai smirked as he pressed his blade towards Torque's neck.
