It's a system that was set-up to work as a sort of Karma system. Someone makes a good post give em' a point, someone makes a bad post, deduct a point (or two, or three).

It was set-up originally ot be used by elders to ascertain who will become an elder. You get enough rep. you're an elder. At least it's a better sytem then before.

Whether it will still be used as such I have no idea.
