The Rules [Updated 17/06/05, please read!]

Make sure you understand these rules before posting.

If you are using attatchments to show off your artwork, then please refrain from posting more than 3 attatchments in a row.

Excessive advertising of your signatures is prohibited. If you have an example of your work in your signature, there is no need to make threads in the Void and link to those as well. If you're talented, and people like you on the forums, they'll come to you whether you advertise yourself or not.

The stickied thread 'User Images (Avatars/Banners) Needed?' Has been moved here for use by members looking for someone to make an image for them. Please note that artists are not required to make a signature image for you. They will most likely base your acceptance on length of time you've been here, activity, and if they don't have too many other people waiting for something from them. If they say they can't do it, don't start a flame war. That's what the Asylum is for, and this will be strictly enforced.

Sig makers should not have there own sig making thread. If they want to make sigs.. There is the 'User Images (Avatars/Banners) Needed' thread. This will also help keep the forum clean.

There is the form I have were people have to exactly what they want for thier sig/avatar. So if they just come in saying "HEY CAN YOU MAKE ME A SIG THATS MY NAME AND WITH A PICTURE OF A TERRAN MARINE?" We can ask them to fill out the form or ask them to be as specific as they can.

The Form is here: Click

All users who make posts to recieve signatures made by another person, will be voided after the recipiant has posted in that thread, and recieved the image.

NO PORN HENITAI BORDERLINE PORN ECT
I have noticed in threads (Hot Chick Thread) there have been many porn/borderline porn pictures posted and this is a warning to ALL who post on BattleForums, PORN?BORDERLINE PORN WILL GET YOU BANNED PERMANATLY!

Additional rules shall be posted as the need for them arise.

If you use a signiture made by another person you MUST put credit to them in your sig... and it must be legible. So just put Made By "XXX" where XXX is the name of the sig creator.

Also putting the author's name is little letters in a readable size on the sig also will do.

We are doing this to prevent upstarts from boasting about how cool thier sig is but they aren't the artist themselves. This is called stealing & plagarizing.

NEW RULE

-There will be NO warez talk from now on. This includes(but not limited to) sites were you can download cracks, or warez. If you give out a CD key it will be edited out. If you want to download something then you should be able to figure it out on your own. If you must ask for help do it through a PM.

::Upadate::

Due to recent questions/concerns it seems as though its not clear what and where the line is crossed about disscussing warez. So...

Anyone that posts anything illegal, ranging from saying 'I use [insert program here] to get all my progs' to anything else.
IF ITS ILLEGAL THEN ITS NOT ALOUD.
<period> I am very understanding about this. I will give ONE warning then a temp ban to anyone disscussing illegaly obtained programs. If you see someone who posts anything above please report it or PM it to me.

If you have any comments on these please PM it to one of the GFX Staff.

New Rule - regarding critiques etc.

Alrighty, I know people have differences in opinion concerning other people's artwork, but that doesn't mean you can't be respectful when critiquing it. There's two ways to do it, the good way and the spam way.

Quote:
This sucks you should die and burn your sigs
The above could've been like this:

Quote:
Okay, good start but I really don't like this, you used too manty filters and the colours don't go together, try using something else next time, there's alot of room for improvement.
See? It works better...I mean, if you bitch about how something you might as well tell them how to fix it ai?

Same thing goes for positive critiques.

Quote:
It's cool.
Quote:
9/10
Instead, you can have:

Quote:
It's better than last time, I like the texture effect, and the border doesn't look as bad as it did last time.
It's helpful. And less pointless. So I'd like you to keep these rules in mind. I don't want to become a Nazi mod but spam can get annyoing ai?

When giving critiques, make sure:

-you're polite
-you point out the good and the bad
-you tell them how to fix it

This forum is for sharing artwork, so we can help each other grow in our talents and technical abilities. Let's try and keep it that way. From now on, any of the posts such as the examples I mentioned above will be split from the thread. If the issue persists, you'll be issued a reminder and later a warning.

-This rule is in effect as of June 17th, 2005
