Halo 2 - Only on Vista!

Microsoft has announced that the PC version of Halo 2 will only work on the new version of Windows called Vista.

The decision could make it expensive for many to play the game if they have to buy the new version of Windows and extra hardware for their PC.

Microsoft has given no definite release date for Vista but it is expected to be available by the end of 2006.

Well this sucks for the PC Halo fans out there. I bought the original Halo for PC/Xbox, and was planning to only buy the PC version this time around . I don't mind it being on Vista since I'm going to purchase it when it comes out, but it sucks that we have to wait until it comes out, and God only knows the performace it will have .

I'm not going to buy Vista first generations, definetly wait a little bit for them to work some of the kinks out, and damn sure not for no Halo 2.

halo is overrated, half life is still the best first person shooter

vista is overhyped, its just the same windows except it looks different, thats usually about it.

sooner or later they will prepackage the OS in ur dells, sonies, whatevers... they always do that eventually, just wait til that happens,

this doesnt piss me off, what realy pisses me off is the whole rang eof different windows, like professional and home and media center, jeezzus just make one verions, pleasee. ie windows 95

I don't care about all of those other FPS, or what other people think, Halo is best played on the Xbox.

Seriously I've downloaded the demo of Halo for Pc and played it for about a week or two, and the game is way faster on the Xbox.

It isn't any slower unless your computer is.. Mod an Xbox controller to your PC if you don't like keyboard/mouse, and Halo looks much better on a decent computer than the Xbox. Modding an Xbox controller to your PC is really easy, and well documented on google if you're interested =)

Actually, it is essentually not very different than Win2k and XP. It has a couple of extra packed apps because it comes in DVD format, and a different GUI. I'm assuming that 50% of these packed apps will be exploits or useless resource hogs like what happened with XP, but to a higher degree. Hell, I'll go far enough to say that Vista is going to be as big of a failiure as Windows ME. If you want to argue, go ahead. I have a legal copy of it, and I could install it to a virtual machine to prove a point if need be. It's a shame that I'll have to miss Halo 2 PC, but I won't plague my computer with that shit unless it's on a VM, and I wouldn't even try to game on a VM.

Basically put, a redesigned security center (which anyone in their right mind disables anyways) and a new GUI among a few new apps doesn't make Vista any different than XP.

Have you been living under a rock for the past year or two? There's been pirated copies of the beta before the beta release.

Anyways, Vista is a terrible piece of shit as far as a gaming OS. It's too maclike, which essentially means its shit. I'm 100% confident that Halo 2 PC is capable of running on XP and 2K, but M$ is going to disable it from working on those platforms for marketing rea$on$. It'll run like shit I assume, since Vista hogs a good 512mb of ram, slows the shit out of your video card, and uses quite a bit of processing power to operate. Seriously, whats the point of a 3-d GUI anyways? I've used it before, and it's hard to navigate and puts my 256mb of video ram to shame.

Well it sucks that Halo 2 isn't coming out for a worthwhile OS, but it'd take a lot for it to be better than HL2, FEAR, etc.
