I really wanna get Counter Strike but my friend told me you have to have Half life, or half life 2 cause it is a mod for it or something like that?, SO do I need it, or just can someone tell me everything I need to play COunter Strike?

Buy Half-Life 2 to get Counter-Strike: Source through steam or buy Half-Life to get Counter-Strike through steam.
