unable to run Diablo IPX network game

Hi all. Can anybody help an old newbie out? I am trying desperately to get the original Diablo to run over my LAN using IPX. Both of my machines are running Windows 2000. I have the IPX/SPX compatible protocol installed and configured the same on both, but a game running on one machine cannot be seen by the other no matter what settings I use. I am not running a firewall, I have the machines connected directly to a hub. They can ping each other and talk to each other fine in Windows, but not in Diablo. Please, does anyone have some advice for me?
