How to kill the 3 ancients on the mount ?

I am new here guys, so please be gentle !!

Help on the Quest to meet the ancients at the Arreat summit.

I am stuck on the quest in the expansion to Diablo 2. I have reached the 3 ancients, who come to life, and I must kill them without returning to
town. If I do they return to their statuesque state.

I am level 32 Paladin, and have a merc level 32 with me.
We are both armoured up to the teeth, and I have loads of health potions...
Still don't manage to kill any of them ...please help / advise.

I have a mace which gives 4 to 36 damage + cold damage etc...
And a Gladius which gives 14 to 34 damage
Armour of 233, and shield of 39.....
I have many many runes, and gemstones etc, but don't know how to get better weapons. I also like to use a one handed sword, as I am better defended when holding the shield. Or is this wrong ?

Quit single player, go online

Because soloing ancient with 32 pally that we have no clue about (zealdin, chargedin, hammerdin, what is it?!?!), is extremely hard.

Be more specific, like what kind of skills you've been maxing, etc..

Zeal damage at 46-98. Does that mean I am a Zealadin ?

You can tell I am really new to this. Defeated Diablo, and almost
through to BAAL now. All done as a single player. Converted my
Character for the expansion.

Never played it online, but willing to try anything once.
Can I still complete my own game, but with another gamer helping me ?

Sorry if these are daft questions. I am a newbie.

I know some people who play online but rarely play with other people.

online has more options, you can go solo when you want, but you can also get help if you need it.

and people might give you free items and stuff.

play uswest/non ladder and ill give you free shit to get you started

but i recommend ladder/east, it seems that thats where most people play...

you have two options

a) start playing online. not only will you get alot better items faster, and will go through the game faster because of groups, but its alot more fun

b) tell us all the skills you've learnt, and what your stats are, and maybe even all the items your using. how your faring is mostly dependant on that. other then that, level more. all three of them are 5 levels ahead of you, so your at a disadvatage in numbers and levels. get to about level 40ish, then you should be able to take them.

wow, u guys are wussy's if u guys never played single player and u didn't even help the man.

u should have a holy shield on all the time. and 1 in vigor. try to run from one side of the map to the other and duel only 1 at a time. make sure u take out the double throw guy last. and ur weapon sucks not to be mean. u can probly buy a better one from larzuk

Thanks guys - all the advice is appreciated. I got through the first game, and this game so far just playing alone (Well with the help of the mercs)
The weapons I seem to find or get offered are shite, but I have a tub full of gems,
and rarely find good socketed ones. Like I said, I use one handed weapons, to get
more defense with the shield.

My suit of armour is like 233 and my shield rates at 33, I never seem to see anything better. I have about 400,000 gold in my stash too.

Anyway - I will give these things a try. If only I could find better socket stuff.

Well Terry, my advice to you is start fresh in Close Battle.net, because as you've noticed, it takes LONG time to lvl up to 30 in Single, but it might take you around a day or less than that to lvl up to lvl 50 online.

And well, what I meant was like, your skills points, like you might have 5 points in Zeal, 2 in Sacrafice, etc... and I wantede to know what kind of aura you use, since you're 32, I would use Fanatism (best aura for melee paladin).

Well, if you look in Strat section>sticky, it has few paladin guides, you could follow some there.


BTW simpleforce Ive gone to act 4 in single player back in original d2, because the realms didnt work for me

If you have a shitty connection or just don't want to play online, here's what I would do. I'd start over, a zealdin won't get you very far in pvm. I wouldn't make a sorc due to immunes. I would make either a hammerdin (paladin who uses blessed hammer and concentration aura) or a summoner necro. Probably a summoner necro. Thats just me

It took me 1 day to get to lvl 70 online

Since your a Paladin, the best thing to do is make a new zealot with the right skills.

Skills:
Zeal 20
Fanatasim 20
Holy shield 20

Since you are not playing 1.10 their are no synergies (skills that help other skills power) you can add some skill points into Defience, Salvation, and Conviction.

To lvl up your character to higher levels do what is called runs. Where your main goal is to attack bosses to get items and level higher. Also get armor and a helmet and socket them with topaz it will help you find better items. Diamons in your shield, and what works good for me is cold and poison damage in your weapon.

STATS:
Strength - Enough for gear
Dex - Enough for max block of 95%
Life - ALL THE REST!!!!!
Energy - NONE! all you need is something with 5% mana leech

Things you need to look for on gear:

Lifetap, Damage Reduction, Magic Find, Increase Attack Speed, Faster block rate, add to resistence, deadly strike, open wounds, and the all important plus to skills, more life, more defence. This should help out alot.

Also get an act 2 defence mercenary it will add the defience aura. Give him a weapon with life steal (Leech) and anything with damage reduction.
