hammerdin troubles

i have looked at many guides for the hammerdin and have managed to come up with some of the most desired items that are outlined for this build, but 1 thing has been troubling me and it is the thought of not having much DR.
Is there any reason that DR has been neglected for a hammerdin, (im saying this in reply to no particular guide but as a summary to many, as usually the only DR to be seen is the minor 10% that is given on the shako).
Should i reconsider my build and add some more DR or can this lack of DR be explained.

Usually Hammerdins are 1 hit kills, so DR isn't as necessary. Also, if you have good blocking, DR also isn't as necessary.

Blockings + high defence = your life

remember, shield is major symbols of paladin (seen it in the d2 book)

No way, you read those? You've got to be kidding me!

OT: Yes, you will rely on Blocking and High Defense. Just toss a few points into Holy Shield, get an upgraded HoZ, and you'll be set for a while.

you can usually supply urself with some DR in ur regular gear though, shako's,verdugnos,string of ears, etc but ide say at least 10% helps

with my gear i got 18 (i think) and that is all i really need concidering the only physical damage taht hits a pally is a guided zon =/

I rather um zak over regular zod zak, but if i could get a um'd zod bugged zak, that would be godly, lol.
