How do you work your way up?

I was wondering how do you work your way up to get good items and equipment...
like you dont start out with anything, so how do you get magic find to find items, and how do you get good items to trade for other items
i tried making games saying bring free stuff..waited like 10 minutes and no one ever comes..
so basically the question is how do you get good items if you have nothing to start out with

Friends hooked me up, and I gradually worked my way up. I'd suggest making a mf char, getting all the mf gear you can, and mfing like crazy. Don't ask for frees man, thats just...ghey.

Here's some great newb mf gear:

• 3xPTopazed Helm
  4xPTopazed Armor
  Chance Gaurds
  Rare or magic boots with mf
  Gull dagger
  2xNagel rings
  Magic ammy with mf
  Goldwrap

Get that gear(easy) and just mf all the bosses.

but that was the whole question... how do you .. Get that gear..you definitaly dont find that stuff on the floor.. no one will trade it for your crappy items..none of my friends play diablo..what shud i do

Everywhere. Do baal runs, a 3 socket helm and 4 socket armor will pop up, or even an armor that can have 4 sockets and a helm that can have 3, then use your socket quest. Once you get those you could probably start doing mf runs, and if youre persistant, you'll find what you need. If you don't find mf gear, you'll find something tradable for low end mf gear(the things i mentioned above.) Hell, if you play USEast non ladder, I will personally hook you up with goldwrap and some other mf gear.

Yea, I remember on ladder when I was doing Meph runs with no mf and I found skulders. Everything changed from there

I had to work at it and keep trying... I always had subpar gear on ladder, because I don't believe in botting. I have awesome crap on non-ladder though

After runz(Ball runz etc) you can find chipped topaz and shappries. Well make them perfecr and get like 20 of em, and keeping doing so until you can trade for some mf items.

there are 3 awsome things about botting..

1. you get good items
2. you gain levels (start at level 70 on nm pindle, once you hit about 78 and have good items and good merc head on to hell pindle)
3. you can do both of those while you're sleeping, eating, or whatever else you're doing!

pindle gives great exp in one night man.. from level 80-89 hell pindle will level you atleast once a night, maybe even 2ce if you're lucky and dont die.

Mfing tends to be easier with either a Sorc or a Barb. Considering a gull greatly reduces a barbs capabality's, it's best to go Sorc.

Beat norm/nm/hell, which you'll be bound to find good items along the way. Constantly go through cows, preferablly hell, with someone who has good mf, get the items and use/trade.

Mf sorc's tend to be cold, So focus specifically on Frozen Orb,Cold Mastery, Warmth, and Teleportation. Those will be your main skills, only put more than 1 skill point into those. I suggest maxing Mastery and Orb, 15-20 on Warmth, and around 10-20 on Teleport.

Frozen Orb-This will be what you use to destroy the monsters in your way. but majority time, you only kill what you have to for mf. Otherwise, you'll use Teleportation to bypass any obstacles.

Cold Mastery-In Hell, majority monsters(including cows) will have cold immune. Maxing this will allow you to pierce the resistence of those monsters, and will increase the damage of your cold spells.

Warmth-You most likely won't change into seperate equip just for mana regeneration, and sorc's tend to go through it rather fast, so Warmth will be your mana regeneration. Level 15+ of Warmth will allow you to do a constant orb, w/o the trouble's of draining mana. So, this is basically the source of ever-lasting orbs.

Teleportation-This is how you will avoid humans,monsters, etc. that you don't need to fight. It costs about 23-24 mana at start, so putting 10 or so skills on this drops that to 12 mana or so. At a lower level, it will go through your mana quickly, regardless of your Warmth level, so you will be forced to carry a big batch of mana potions.

Thats about 400% MF right there. Here is what you MF:

NM/Hell Cows
NM/Hell Council at travincal
NM/Hell Mephisto
Norm/NM/Hell Diablo
Hell Andarial

For Norm, I suggest 40-50. For NM, I suggest being level 50+. For hell, I suggest 60-70.

Onto Stats: For Strength and Dexterity, you only want the minimal requirments to wear the MF equipment. You'll mostly want Vitality and Mana. An enourmas supply of mana allows you to kill monsters more quickly w/o the need to wait for regeneration, but Vitality/Teleportation is what will keep you alive.

Note:This is all specifically for Non-Expac.
