1.11 Smiter Merc Strat Request

Hey, I just built my new smiter, he has top of the line equipment and is ready to go but I wanted to get him a good merc to help him out, First Id like to know which desert merc I should pick, and what gear he should use.. Do you think pride would be a good weapon considering it has concentration arua to increase both of our damage? or is that a bad idea and would you recommend something else? I dunno, never made a merc for a smiter before... whats your thoughts and suggestions??? :tnt

What is the main purpose for your Smiter? Are you going to mainly Uber, quest, PvP, MF, ect? This could determine weather or not you should even bother with a merc for the Smiter.

Pride is ok, if you use this put it on a Holy Freeze merc. Great combo.

Some choose to go with a act 3 merc and make it a Aura merc with stacked holy fire/shock auras.

Others, since you can't leech unless you lifetap go with a Act 2 Prayer with infinity to lower the def even fearther.

Act 1 Rouge with faith, coh, and dream is another decent one as well.

Just remember that if your in a full party, any aura after 7 total has the possibility of not working.

hey, im gonna mainly use my smiter for ubers and chaos runs, maybe some pvp also, which merc would you prefer and what items?

None, no real point in a merc if your doing Ubers. For runs just go with what you thought was good Pride, on a holy freeze merc.

ok thanks, i just wanted a merc that could give me some extra damage with its concentration and also the holy freeze will help slow things up, ill work on it and tell ya how he is, i have a few armors and helms to experiment with also..

Best thing do do is give good damage, good defense and life leech. My favorite combo is on a Holy Freeze Merc Gaze (umed) Fortitude, and Insight for my hammerdin.

I honestly never bothered with a merc for my Smiter, except beginning out I had a Prayer Aura merc with some crap gear on.

Oh, best thing to lvl up the merc if needed, is do single cow runs. Depending on lvl and gear, you might want to vary the difficulties, but for me with the suggested gear above, or at least good life leech, norm to lvl 50, nightmare till 75, and rest in hell. Stand back as support in case it gets damaged alot and let it kill as much as possible. The merc will lvl really fast possibily 2-3 times per run. Or if your loaded with gold, just rebuy another one at a closer lvl to yours.
