Diabolic is a pretty sweet character editor program that I'm sure a lot of you have heard about if you hang around these boards very much. In a game as expansive and far-reaching as Nez, Diabolic can allow you to do some pretty awesome stuff.
Its basic functions (changing your level, editing stats, changing skills, etc) are pretty easy to figure out; there's even a little help command in the program.
The COOLER functions are the ones that enable you to play with items and their properties, so long as you know the unique Item Code of each item you're using. So, in this thread, I'll tell you guys the basics of how to do some neato tricks with your items in Diabolic, and truly make your characters
into gods.
Part 1: Item codes and how to use them -
Each different base item, including all equipments, all gems, all special pickups, and all supercharms, has a unique Item Code that identifies it to the game as that particular item.
Diabolic allows you to find out the item code of any item you possess, and also allows you to change the item code of any item you hold, effectively changing it into another item. In other words, if you knew the code for say, a dagger, you could turn any item you wanted INTO a dagger.
Here's the kicker: when you change an item into another via itemcodes,
the new item keeps the magical properties of the first! For example if you use a "Toxic Bone Wand of Bone Skill Granting" (adds poison damage and +skills for some random Bone skill normally found on a Necromancer's skill tree), and change it into a dagger, you'd end up with a "Toxic Dagger of Bone Skill Granting" that has the exact same magical traits.
Needless to say, this is exciting. The new item keeps all the traits of the first, including any name modifications, including Unique or Set names/attributes. When you change a Unique item into another item type, it keeps the name of the original Unique item, such as if you changed a Corpsefire's Elemental Touch into a base item of a Ring, it'd still be called Corpsefire's Elemental Touch, and still be unique, but it'd be a ring, with all of the Corpsefire attributes.
So how do you actually USE these item codes? Well, first you have to "pick up" an item, so that it's "in your hand." Then, press enter like you were going to type a message, and type
This will display the held item's item code. Now, if you want to change the code and therefore the item, you type in
with #### = the item code of the new item.
Then, drop the item on the ground. When you pick the item back up, it'll be the new item you want!
--I'll edit or add another post later...don't have time to go into ALL of it right now. I've got a billion little tricks to do with this program, and I will bare my secrets, lol. Just be patient, I'm on a busy schedule, lol.--
