Well if its the same char he begged for (and practically ate shit for), if I recall correctly he was to have no items, only exp bags.

now, if he relied on himself to get items, i suspect he had no idea what he was doing and i dont even know what the point was of getting through kagero with a char that wasnt yours...
this guy isnt even competent enough to edit his own character. :lol3
