i love tech support...

So today i tried to get embarq to fix my **** again...i actually has someone fairly (and by that i mean had a braincell at least) smart and seemed to have an idea of wtf he was doing, he told me to test something (i found odd, but sure why not)

long story short, i told him i had connection issues, my net likes to reconnect during certain things:
-first time i try to join a server in CSS = Reconnect
-first time i try to start/try to stop a torrent = Reconnect (sometimes constant reconnects while downloading)
-when i try to update wow = Constant reconnects

he (Blake B.) told me to try going into safemode and running it, then coming back and talking to a tech, he said ic ould request to talk to him again when i came back, so i did, and went to talk to him again, but sadly this time i was given a new tech, who said he is "unavailable"

long story short: she told me what every other tech has ever told me, generic CTRL + V **** that is usless to me and doesnt help. then eventually she calls me Chris...wtf. anyways, conversastion is below for those who want to read it.

8:17:29 AM You when i try to play CounterStrike Source (CSS), the very first attempt to join a server/game reconnects my net

8:18:50 AM You i couldnt test CSS, but i tried out Counterstrike instead, it let me run without a reconnect (not sure if its ever done it before, i dontp lay it)
8:18:56 AM Julian G If you do this without your Linux router does the same thing happen - just directly connected to the DSL modem

8:20:22 AM Julian G I see some line issues that are causing interference that will slow down your connection and possibly even make it unstable.

Please make sure that there is a filter on every device that is connected to your phone line except for the modem. That would include things like fax machines, cable TV boxes, and satellite receivers.

Also, make sure that the phone cord that runs from the modem to the wall jack is no more than 10 feet long and goes directly to that jack and not through a splitter, filter, or surge protector.

If all that checks out, power off the modem, plug in another telephone cord, and power back on the modem.

If you are still having trouble at that point, please contact us back via chat so we can assist you further.

8:22:09 AM You ive replaced my modem 4+ times
8:22:22 AM You ive updated firmware multiple times (but ive reset it a million times as well so im not sure where i stand at that atm)
8:22:47 AM You ive used everything from 100 phone cord to 5 ft phonecord (i know anything above 10fg of RJ-11 can cause problems)
8:23:14 AM You ive connected to my router using 10ft of RJ-45 (though i know that shouldnt matter) and im currently using 75fg of ethernet

8:23:33 AM You and ive also reformated my computer about 3 times

8:25:51 AM You weve tried connecting the modem with multiple phonejacks in the house as well
8:29:12 AM Julian G The only other thing I may suggest is for you to contact the repair department and request a "splitter" install. They will rewire the DSL to just one jack so no interference from other jacks will affect the connection...

It always seems they are from India. And really have no idea what they are talking about.

Some companies are awesome though.
All my encounters with Comcast have been pretty good :P

I find that a mockery that she used my name in such a foul manner. Multiple bitch slaps for her.

Yeah I have a problem with tech support ALL THE TIME! Hell, I got sick of checking sites for common knowledge, I started to post my own little troubleshooter guides.

I only wrote for d2 mods, router port opening, and the Unhandled Exception Error that is a plague on Wc3.
