Hackin random accnts???

Ok this sounds wierd but my friend was just playing got off to xfer... and tried to get back on and his password was changed, no one knows his password and he is almost one of the most legit players in the game. if this has happened to you or u know what the hell is going on plz fill me in thanx

And there is no hack that does that. He probably gave out his password. Or he has a keylogger on his comp. He can just email bind it back.

There used to be a way. There isnt anymore. He either had a keylogger, or someone else who knew his pwd changed it.

a keylogger is a trojan horse or backdoor that records everything you type, and logs it. Then it loads the logfile to an FTP server somewhere. Thats how most "HaXxors" get peoples D2 passwords. Idiots like to usually download every link that says 'dupe' on it, and then they wonder why they got 'hacked'.

ohhh dont forget the old account recov scam, someone gives an account away to you (usually with a high lvl char who is naked) and then mayb like a week later they do a password recovery get ur new password and then change it and take all the items that ya put on it this most likely didnt happen to u but again...just a possibility

U are wrong there is a brute force program that can take ur password. And u know cuz i was hacked with it, in fact that i know is that i was on the account when it happend and transfered me stuff, changed all passwords. And a weeck later my accouts where gone, if i had a keylogger it has been made much faster.
And no1 knowed my pass it not even reallted 2 me the password just a random word.
And the reson i did't make a new account and transferad the stuff 2 was i was quiting d2.
The only thing i had done was braging in trades and when i traded and told some people i used bot.
And my account where not banned cuz, i coud se when he came on for the first time and used my sorc and took my soj and tal armor.

you can not use a bruteforce program (unless it guesses the right pw before 5 failed attempts) bnet locks the account after so many failed attempts.

well thats tru but that will only be the case if his password was a real word, brute force programs run off of dictionaries they keep and usually if its like a name or a random series of numbers or a made up word are the ones that will slip past those programs. but if its a real word it could get in after a little bit of time

U can use proxy 2 change your ip and then u have 5 more tries, and i said u took more then days 2 take may password and my password was not a word.

Sure the B.Nett Brute forces that sells on ebay are fake.
But i dont think its inpossible, nothing is if u have the write tools and know the rigth stuff. And u can make a program that change proxy every five try just like u can change or use proxy in IE.
But 1 thing for sure it's not easy, and take alot of computer, programming knowledge.

Bruteforcing accounts IS possible, yet it would take so much time/so many proxies that it doesnt pay off.

I talked to forged about it some time ago, he was sure that it is possible, same thing with Snarg and his bruteforcing-contest on BH.

But since I doubt that anyone ever actually DID bruteforce someone (lack of time/proxies/skill/patiance) I guess you could say that BFing is quite impossible.

I have never tested it but in case this IS true then of course it would be impossible but afaik the account is only locked for the IP that tried to enter it (hence proxies), locking the account would be plain stupid since people could "attack" eachothers accounts that way and make it unaccesable (sp?) for it's real owner.

not that i dont scam everynow and then, but account stealing is wrong unless they really deserve it. and even then, u could spend days brute forcing and still not get the pass i mean, its just pointless, why even try?
