I think that's just a cheap way to get a +1 to the post count, much like the post I'm submitting right now.

How sure are you that is correct info? Got some proof?

anyway.... to get to the topic..
i vote for new classed but no new playable races...

i would like to see a new melee class and a new spellcaster class with some new attribute... like arcane magic.

Why the classes!? I don't see any reason behind them other than 'looks' and 'Title'.

I mean, do you really want people to see you and immediately know your'e a thief? Or people guess 'Hey, that's a Werebeast!' with race? Doesn't that eleminate the element of 'suprise'?

Why not just, the different factions (I really like this idea, hoora to the person who came up with it!) and the people being more or less humans? (Nightwing's idea)

How you look will depend upon three factors:

-Armoury: Affects what kind and the level of armours you can wear efficiently, also affects the rate at which your armour gets damaged.

-Armaments: Affects what kind of weapon you can use, also affects the rate at which your weapon wears off.

-Affinity: Affects what kind of enchantment is applied to you, multiple enchantments may apply un one piece of equipment (If your armour is enchanted but you don't have this skill, it's just..an armour.) Also affects the efficiency of the enchantment, the more you have of this skill the more effective the enchantment may be.

They have grades and of course, the higher grade the better stuff you can wear. Equipment also have pre-requisites of AAA for anybodyto use them. Of course, you can customize your guy or gal's face, body and such at the beginning.

Now, say what? Classes give you spells and such? Bull-****!

I don't see a need, just skills and abilities will be enough don't you think so? You can choose to be whatever you want, people won't know what you can do just by looking at you.

In so many MMORPGS, people go "Hey, what class are you?" "I'm a thief, you?" "Sorcerer." And...that's it! They don't bother finding out more 'bout each other because they can get all the information 'bout thieves and Sorcerrors at the website! It's fixed, it's static! WE DON'T LIKE IT!! Now, do we?

If there was no implementation of classes, it'll go something like this "Hey, what class are you? I mean, what are you good at?"

"I call myself a thief, I can get extra loot from stuff just by attacking them because each time I do so I have a chance of stealing valuables from them without keeling them due to the a skill I have called 'Pilfer'! You?" *Okay, this part might be a little farmiliar to some of you out there. :P*

"Sorceror. I specialize in casting slow life-draining spells which last very long because I have input alot into 'Hex Endurance' and 'Curse' instead of placing all my skills into direct blasting spells, hey. You wanna party up with me? Pilfer's efficiency is based upon how dextrous you are, meaning you can dodge really well right?"

"Yah...I guess so."

"We can find a high level monster and have me channel the curse whilst you try to keep it busy, my curse does really well if I'm undisturbed and I also learn't hexes which lowers the monster's chance to dodge your Pilfer skills!"

"Kool! So, when do we start?"

See because you can elaborate 'bout what you are good at and THERE IS specialisation so varied, you can actually engage in productive conversation and even come up with a stratergy like people said before! It proves that class is merely a title, a fixed set of skills...limiting interaction between players and inhibits strategising.

Also, I don't like the idea of stats. INT being your pool of AP(Ability Points, mana...Magic points) and directly relates to your Magickal damage output. STR being how many blows muah can withstand and how hard anyone whacks.

Why not just individualise? How hard anyone whacks is dependant upon how many points anyone adds into 'Whacking'? How often you can cast your spells is dependant upon how much your 'Pool of Mind' is! How much 'Body Endurance' you have affects how much damage you can take, how strong your spells become dependant upon 'Strength of Mind'?

A man-hulk can crush another's skull easily but can be keeled with a single stab of a knife if he doesn't have any Body Endurance.

Many people argue that this system is complicated and mistakes are easily made with this system, not true. We seriously don't need to spoon-feed players by making sure they have enough mana to cast their spells or that their spells do any worth of damage, this invites careful planning and variety which is a definite appeal to most hard-core gamers.

Of course, skills can overlap one another to form a new set of skills. If you have a certain grade of this skill, a certain grade of another. You just might be able to unlock a new skill! It balances between people who want to be a hybrid and pures, in which many other games still cannot.

With that, here's my vague concept:

Skills and Proficiencies: A mere conflagaration cannot compare to a Wizard's Blue flame (Skill) but what if the Conflgaration is a huge explosion whilst the wizard's blue flame merely a candle (Proficiency)?

Abilities and Specialisation: Look that man over there, he dresses in rags. He looks like a noob, dresses like a noob. Is a noob at everything...except BLASTING PEOPLE'S HEAD OFF WITH KABOOM FIREBALLS..no...METEORS!!

What you want to call yourself, is totally up to you. This might even put the function of guilds to actual use! If your'e good at healing and defending against attacks more than anything else, a group of like-minded people might just form a guild and call themselves 'Paladins'. So, the next time people ask what your'e good at "I'mma Paladin." and if your guild is famous they will knows what you are!

I don't see the need for a racial template if the armour templates are varied enough, I don't see the need for a race called Elves if helms cover their ears when they put them un.

As for the history and storyline part, the factions will do the trick with this baby. Quests and such being part of the journey, what faction your'e in determines the quests and jobs you can take.

Quests, this is a really important part. Many games have quests which just have you do things which are redundant, keel rats and get their tails I mean..c'mon..who the hell needs 20 rat tails from every single player (Over millions) for anything!? The Rat whip?

Will Quests be more unusual, less frequent? Quest NPCs, some may be the he usual..stand there with a ! above their heads (Wow ripoff<The storyline part is based upon these guys.>). most should however be NPCs that spawn randomly, all over the world and it would be lucky for a player to find them. Rewards shouldn't be menial either, think of it as finding an uber item drop but you have to do this and that and this and that before you can get it.

Once someone has recieved a quest from that NPC or sometimes items, he goes poof so that other players do not find him and he usually leaves you with a message of how to contact him (Usually by completing the quest then arriving at a certain X,Y coordinates, only then does he appear).

This can fit into the storylines as well and I know how to...just the details I don't think anyone wants to read as it can go un forever.

As for the customization at the beginning, the template thing. People really want races because of how they look, it's the raw essence. Why not just humans BUT if you really want something different, maybe stripes markings pointed-ears red-eyes but nothing too appalling. NO WINGS! You'd be better off as a fly. Plus, wings are for sissies.

That's where another use of guilds come in again, maybe a bunch of people with stripes may come together and start calling themselves 'Tigers'? The term race and guilds doesn't exist, guilding is merely a function which congregates people and everyone is under the term 'People'.

With that, I end my case and requests that the jury make a FAIR, JUSTIFIED descision that you all can achieve...by digging deep down into your own hearts. Are my words fallony, or merely the speech of another who sympathizes with my case? *Hic...too much booze*

i'd like to see something like this :

Barbarian: Warcries, Combat Masteries, Combat Skills
Amazon: Bow and Crossbow Skills, Javelin and Spear Skills, Passive and Magic
Centurion: Tactical, Defensive , Blade
Paladin: Offensive Auras, Defensive Auras, Combat Skills
Thief: Stealth, Theft, Selfdefence
Assassin: Traps, Martial Arts, Shadow Disciplines
Cleric: Healing, Hand to Hand, Prayer
Degel (from demon and angel) : Light, Dark, Neutral
Exorcist: Manipulation, Curses, Possessing
Druid: Elementary, Summoning, Shapeshifting
Atronach (just a product of my imagination) : Alchemy, Astronomy, Mercantile
Elemantalist: Earth, Wind, Water
Sorceress: Fire, Cold, Lightning
Necromancer: Bone and Poison, Summoning, Curses
Warlock: Passive Magic, Offensive Magic, Enchanting

my english is not perfect so some of these words may not even exist but you'll probs get a good idea what i mean with this

if someone wonders what the hell that mercantile skilltree is for.. it's like you get skills which allow you to get cheaper wares from npc:s etc.

Yeah, but that seems a little too close to RO for my liking. But otherwise it seems ok. I'm also not so sure about about a few of those classes...

I mean i know what you guys are saying about how we need more characters...but do we really? It would add a interesting spice to the mix but in the end it could just make things more complicated. I did think of a new class anyway though. Moon Elf. I mean dont you love it??(well i got it off a different game for the consoles.) but he has like a bunch of different spells like a life leech, a type of magic missle spell. and all the good stuff...

Too bad i got banned for using a stacking program for my gmerc...

those basterds.......

I know im a "total newbie" but with all those classes you have to have counter classes to take on those classes....if you dont you're gonna end up with a super class or something...

That would be a nightmare to balance...

I am no fan of too many classes or races. Partially because it gives newcomers a steep learning curve.*

class changing!!!

Amazon = Valkyrie / Ranger
Assassin = Death Dealer (or thief = assassin)
Barbarian = Berzerker / Templar
Paladin = Crusader / Astral Guardian (or knight = paladin)
Sorceress = RuneMaster / Geomancer
Necromancer = Reaper / Lich
Druid = Shaman / Elementalist

as you see the class changes branch out to two directions, when the character changes his/her state, he/she gets powerful abilities(of course!) from that certain class.

take the amazon's classes for example, Valkyrie gets better lance/jav skill, while the Sniper get filthy cheap bow tricks.
basically, when a class changes, he gains access to a skill tree related to one he's alread got.

but with the sorceress... i guess runemaster gets even more powerful whole screen spells(the cheapness). while geomancer can manipulate objects on the battlefield(terrain and what not).

Race change would be a bad idea atleast from that of a humanoid type like an elf or dwarf. Basically the game has always been humans against demons/undead changing that just sounds detrimental to the quality and accuracy of the storyline.

And a lot of you haven't been real original with your character ideas taking the same thing as d1 and d2 and just changed classes. I mean there are a lot of variations of like an assassin, like a thief or say rogue type of character.

How else can they change the save? Like Pokémon, where you can save at just about any time? Nah. The saving must stay that way. It keeps it challenging.*

Yes. It is a cool way for hardcore. You can exit when it becomes dangerous.
I would play hardcore, only if it wouldnt be for the lag/conn problems...

Here are my ideas....
=================
Character Races

Light Barbarian [Barbarian that uses either 2 swords or 1 sword and a shield. This barbarian is very fast but doesn't deal as much damage as the Heavy Barbarian. This barbarian, though, can attack very rapidly, and runs pretty fast.

Heavy Barbarian [Barbarian that uses 2 handed weapons like polearms and spears. The heavy barbarian is slow at running/walking and slower attack speeds. Loads of physical damage.]

Bow Amazon [This amazon can only use regular bows. Regular bows attack much faster than crossbows, but don't deal as much damage. It's also easier to find arrows for bows, rather than bolts for Crossbows.

Crossbow Amazon [This amazon deals loads of damage with his/her crossbow. Crossbows are very slow, but can take out monsters in a few blows.]

Holy Paladin [This paladin uses skills from the heavens to defeat his enemies. Send lightning from the heavens, summon an angel to help you fight, protect your allies with healing and defensive auras, and other things of such.]

Unholy Paladin [This paladin uses skills from the underworld to defeat his enemies. Crush your enemies with the "Fire Sword" skill which is an aura that makes your sword (besides the handle) turn into a huge flame, do deal great fire damage at enemies.]

Stalker [Summon pets like Panthers, Scorpions, or Snakes to fight with you if you need them. The stalker specializes in the use of daggers and knives to slice her enemies in-half.]

Mage [Exactly like the sorceress but with new skills]

Preist [Mostly for The Arena (see below). A priest has healing powers for his fellow teammates. But, if he is, say, the only one standing, he can ressurect teammates for the cost of all his mana, or use some of the weak melee skills]

The Arena
The Arena is a place for all PvP action to take place. It has a seperate channel for people to request duels and setup teams.

So, what do you think about my suggestions? Like or dislike? :wavey
