Metal Gear Solid 3 snake eater Review

bare with me, if anyone doesnt know why this is an amazing game, or why it is worth buying, read this. If you havent bought the game or tried it, this should change your mind. It was released to close to Halo 2 and half-life 2, both which doesnt compare. However those two are more popualr, and commercials only appeared for this game on tv a month after it's release. It is a brillian game, a step in the right direction, away from the step Metal Gear 2 took.

Gameplay 10/10
the game plays like the other games, with many many more features. The basic stealth system and gameplay, there is no need to go into it is as good as ever.
The fact is the game takes place in a jungle, which adds to the stealth gmaeplay, allowing for several new forms of hiding.

The newest thing to this game is camoflauge. Wearing different camoflauge, many of which can be picked up during the game, and a few others that are unlocked. Camo provides enhanced gameplay, and a much more indepth stealth system. A certain percentage is displayed of how well hidden you are. This is a good indication of how good your camo is in that enviroment.

One aspect I was disapointed in was the food. It became irritating, especialy when food became rotten. Though I have to admit, it was a very interesting addition, and made the game much more realistic.

The removal of radar, which many have become dependant on from the last two games, only added to the experience. It gave a whole new level to gameplay.

Graphics 10/10
The graphics were qimply amazing. It was stunning, from the way the enviroment was made, to EVA's wonderful breasts. Nothing more to say, one of PS2's best

Sound 10/10
The Music was incredible, jsut the introduction music was quite good. The sound acting was quite good, and we have all grown to like Snake's voice. SFX were as good as the last games, jsut basic jungle sounds make a setting more believable.

Story 10/10
This was the part I was afraid of. Metal Gear Solid II had a story that left you saying "what the ****". The Metal Gear Solid III plot was easy to follow, yet deeply satisfying. It had the plot twists, especialy the ending, but left an understandable set up for the Metal Gear NES version. Though Solid Snake is not the main character, the fact a 1964 setting, allows for Big Boss to have his own game and story. His betrayle is all the more understandable, because of the revelations made through the game. Finaly we are given the oppurtunity to understand the story behind Metal Gear, Foxhound, the Patriots, and Big Boss.

Replayability 10/10
with several unlockables, and an extreme hard mode, along with a odd monkey cathinc game, there is a great replay value. Just collecting camo, and the unlockable items is worth it. Not to mention picking up any story plots that were un-understandable.

Overall 10/10
This review was probably un necissary, but It was satisfying to write my feelings about such an amazing game. It took game and story elements that were the best of both games, and created a game that not only felt like a movie with the amazing cinematics, but palyed like it should. All the characters were interesting and developed rather well. Its the game that no one should be without

I agree with the whole thing, except for the replayability. I didn't find much replay value in the game, collecting camo didn't appeal to me since I already finished the game (plus I didn't want to bother trying to get The End's =\). The random secrets in the game were fun, though (especially the transmitter cutscene extra ). Snake vs. Monkey's pretty fun, too. Replaying the game on different difficulties didn't appeal to me, though, since the main reason why I play any MGS game is the deep, twisting story.

Well, anyway, just my two cents.

btw: MGS:3 has the best ending out of all the MGS games in my opinion, although I can't remember what hapened in the first game.

Metal Gear Solid's ending, had two endings, one is when Meryl lives, and after defeating MEtal Gear Rex, and a fist-fight to the death with Liquid snake, Meryle drives the "get away" truck. However Liquid snake follows and much like in MGS 3 you fire from the back of the truck at him. The trucks crash, and liquid snake truggles to fire his gun at you, then succoms to the FoxDie and dies, leaving u and your pertner to get away!? In the second ending, The same thing happens, however otacon drives the truck for you since meryle dies (which I belive is the offical ending, seeing as how she didn't show up in MGS2)

this review was very needed. ive talked to people about the game, even some people i trust as gamers, and they told me the game was orgasmic. the one, the ONLY reason i havent bought this game is because i dont feel like playing on my playstation 2... not only does a freind have it.. i have no idea if i have a momory card, if controllers work.. god im too lazy. i got a working xbox, no need for momory cards, online capability.... but damn, if theres anything that will get me to play my ps2 one last time its this game for sure. i loved mgs1, great ****ing game for its time, and even now. mgs2 was decent.. not nearly as good. but it was still the second metal gear solid.. and it gets something just for that. 3 ive been dying to play, but dont want to use a playstation.

I agree with you on this one Pan, although there is no radar system in this game. But it kinda adds to the challenge of choking and shooting your opponents. You dont know when they will attack you until you expect it.

I agree with everything except your take on the music for the intro.

The lyrics to that song are the dumbest freakin thing I have ever heard.

i gotta agree but 95% of music we hear today are lyrically ****ed up. it is the tune that we like or the beat or the voice or we just like it for no apparent reason

This game was pretty good, I wasn't completely awed, but I didn't have any complaints. The ending is so long and substantial that it's more than satisfying. Near the end, Eva kept passing out, so I had to knock her unconscious and drag her until I found food. All in all, this is a must-play game.

By the way, when I said "I wasn't completely awed," I only meant up until the fight with The Boss. In my opinion that was by far the most intense, visually stimulating fight to ever be put on console. If nothing else, that in itself is worth playing through the entire game for. Between being beautiful and exciting, it was absolutely breathtaking.
