360

Okay, I'm finna wanting to get a 360 for my sister's birthday since she is all into video games and that jazz.
Here is the deal, how does it work? Playing the old games on the 360 console? Do you need to download of packet for each game you need (i;m guessing) to convert to play on the new system. And if that is a yes, that do you NEED to subscribe to LIVE to download these packets? She doesn't want to play live but she wants to be able to play some of her older games. I know it can be done, but I'm just not sure how it works.
Thanks

some games dont work at all and others u gotta download some ****. so you need a hard drive.
u put in the game and it says Requires update, you press okay it downloads it and it either works or it doesnt depending on the game
oh, and Xbox live silver is free, and will allow the updates AFAIK. XBL Gold is liek 50 a year though, so its not bad

Naturally I will be getting the standard 360, not the core system.
I'm glad I won't have to pay for updates and patches or whatever is needed to play the older games.
