Finally got the .//Hacksign Series ....

Took me a while, but I finally got all the Dot Hacksign games, and started to play. I will admitt I wasn't into the anima, (due to how I was lost by missing the first couple) but the game so far is rather interesting.
I am presently lvl 22, and just got the heavy axeman guy. I figured since I knew nothing of the game, anima, ect. might as well level up a bit since it is a RPG and all.

I really don't want to look up any guides or anything, but my question is, what is the deal with these ponds. It says to drop a weapon or armor into it, then I get some waterdrop of a guy, saying "did you loose a golden axe, or was it a silver axe?"
I have right now 13 Golden Axes, 6 silver axes .... whats the deal with this?

Also after doing these quests, I get grunty dolls ect. They say they are worthless, is this true, or would it be wise to keep them? I almost have the Grunty Dolls maxed out, as well as "Yellow Candy" whatever those are.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

yellow candy is good for trades
i forgot what grunty dolls do
and ponds are there to upgrade items when u say neither
silver and golden axes can be traded to i thik

also data drain as much as you can, u really need cores and items.
and there willl be some bosses that are hard to kill but in the end make sure u have piros and black rose and u be the healer for the final dude

Isn't data drain somewhat bad to do, I have only done it when I had to? Besides the exp after doing so sucks ass.

EDIT: I just got the Bom-Ba-Ye (or however it's spelled) Yippy! I'm assuming I am pretty far into the game, since, I don't see too many item lvls higher then this weapon.

Oh what's with this goblin king crap? The items seem pointless statwise. I sold a rare helmet I got from the first one. Is that something I should have kept?
