| USB Ports Just a quickie.. how do I tell what version my USB ports are? I'm not too sure if they're 1.1 or 2.0, although I'm fairly sure they're 2.0.. but if there's a more concrete way of finding out, I'd like to know what it is (I've already tried dxdiag, and yes, I know how old my computer is).

| I believe that if you go to Device Manager, and scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, if there is a '2.0' beside the root controller, then it is USB 2.0; if there is no number beside it, then it is USB 1.1.
Also, I believe if the word 'enhanced' appears anywhere in the root controller, it is USB 2.0.*

| You might want to go ahead and just try out your USB ports and find out that way. I've had USB ports that just read as "USB Hub". Right now I have 4 1.1 ports (2 on my keyboard, 2 on the front of my computer) and 4 2.0 ports (on the back) and my device manager reads 6 USB Hub devices and one that says USB Rev5 or later and another that actually says 2.0. Just try it out.

The majority of processors that have Pentium 4 clockspeeds of 2.4Ghz (assuming the people bought high-end Pentium 4 clockspeeds) should have only USB 1.1 hubs, by the way.*

| x42, you do realize there were motherboards that maxed out at 1.6Ghz that supported USB2.0, don't you? It doesn't matter the processors clock speed, it depends on the motherboard.
And if you are that worried about it, go out and buy a USB2.0 hub. They are like...30 bucks.

| I face the same problem, except on my NoteBook. I am in love with the fact that you can fit USB Hubs into the (and this is what I will call it because I know of no formal name" network card slot. For 20 bucks I can get a 4 port hub. |

I was just saying USB 2.0 came out about that time.*

However, it would be easier just to go to Device Manager and find out. |

| I decided to purchase a USB PCI card that was compatible with USB 2.0, and it's working great. It already comes with four slots, so buying a HUB isn't necessary (I only have a scanner, a webcam, an iPoD, and an analog controller). And it was only about $11.00.
