ok, i was going to bump a topic on page 3, but seeing how thats not the best of choices im making this an entirely new topic, and itll work too, watch!

throughout my life ive always heard people saying "if you hit someone from the bottom of the nose up hard enough, you can make the bridge of the nose actually PENETRATE the brain and kill them! how cool is that!"

well i got news for you. its bullshit.

think about it. its all comon logic. yes, it IS possible to die from that type of injury. but no. not from a person (unless for some reason your fighting superman) or at least an average, hell, even above average (in the str department) person.

the human skull is designed for a reason. to protect the brain. its a very hard. think. bone. why is a small fragment of it going to push through the rest of itself so easily?

secondly. boxers sustain this type of injury all the time. ever hear of an uppercut? yeah.

i myself box, and get hit in this fashon occasionally when i dont dodge back far enough. and i can tell you right now. im (omg youll be shocked at this) NOT dead.

so i guess u could say im living proof.

..it wasn't an uppercut. The other guy used the palm of his hand to hit the bottom of his nose. He was straight-armed up into the bottom of his nose, and blacked out. He died within 2 hours due to complications caused by internal hemorrhaging.

Never saw a skull? The nose part is an empty hole. That's where the bridge can enter if you hit it badly enough. It doesn't have to do everything with strenght, actually.

Sorry to hear about that Az, but he still didn't die from his nose going into his head, you said it yourself. It would take, by my guess, at least 200 pounds of pressure to cause something that extreme to happen.

yes az, that is what inspired this thread, but my point doesnt directly relate. people say you can do this to shove the nose into the brain, thus killing you. that is not the way it works though. (like u said, died from blood clot)

Way to contridict yourself.

And if you really want the reason, it's because the frontal lobe of the brain which is roughly a few centimeters above the bridge, and behind a bit is where all your nervous system activity is. If you lodge something into it (IE a shard of your nose, or even a crayon) you will die very fast. This is why people tell you not to shove things up your nose.
