Hey, I need a little help.

My boss' comp is acting strange. He has a cable modem but he can't access the internet because it says (when I looked at his LAN info) a network cable is unplugged, but there is nothing unplugged, everything is hooked up properly. Any suggestions as to what it might be? He looks to me for help, but I know next to nothing about comps, any help would be greatly appreciated because this is like the blind leading the blind.

make sure everything is fine with the cable modem,after that reinstall the drivers for the NIC

Make sure the Network card isn't friend. I had a friend who had a similar problem where everything was also hooked up, but apparently there was a power surge that he hadn't told me about.. and it turned out that his Network card was dead and bloated. And, the message that you mentioned also came up when this happened.

This probably isn't the case if the Network card is implemented in the Mother Board.
