For the most part so far the only real lead up was New Avengers, and the last couple issues of mighty Avengers.

Those are Skrulls with a ****load of powers based on the heroes from Earth. Some Skrulls have infiltrated certain groups, taking the place of a hero, with powers and everything and set up for the invasion which you see in that image of the rest of the Skrulls arriving all jacked with powers.

Illuminiti 1-6, New Avengers 39/40, Mighty Avengers 13/14, Secret Invasion 1/2. That's essentially the 'what you need to know'. Illuminiati isn't that important, but it is a pretty big 'setup' for the entire event.

Of course theres everything Bendis has written for Marvel in the past 5 years, cause he says "it's all tied together" but he's an idiot so.

I have the comics on my cumputer if u need to catch up.

I really don't know what has been going on for "the past 5 years" and I've followed things pretty clearlty. You pick up a few things like Nick Fury is no longer around, found that out straight away(although if you started reading civil war, you would know that, but no one cared about civil war) . Looks like he is set to come back and kick ass tho.

Just finished captain MArvel, which while not necessary to the overall Secret Invasion, I thought it was pretty well done.
