| College Troubles My friend is really down right now because of college. He has a GPA of 2.25-2.30 and his ACT score was 19 I think. I want to cheer him up but I don't know what to tell him. What are some good and easy colleges to get into around Maryland?

| Re: College Troubles My friend got into the UofA with me with a 19 ACT and a 3.0sh GPA..Not saying other schools are that slack but U of A is though I think they raised their ACT score req to 20sh. I can understand doing bad on the ACT but if your friend did bad in HS not because he was lazy then maybe he shouldn't go to college.

| Re: College Troubles If you did ****ty like that in Highschool, pretty sure you shouldn't go to college.
I mean, I had a pretty ****ty gpa my whole HS total (like a 2.9) cause I ****ed around my first two years, but the last two I picked it up and ended up going to a community college and getting out of that ***** asap by taking 5 or so classes a semister, but that's just cause I'm dedicated.
Someone who's just gonna fluff around with a 2.6 shouldn't go to college, and should be bagging my groceries when I buy them. |

| Re: College Troubles High school grades have nothing to do with college unless you are trying to get into a well known university right out of high school. I know a guy who barely made it out of high school yet he has a 3.8 GPA in college. Its all about having the dedication to stay in the books and not party. IMO it is better to start off at a community college then transfer to a university. It saves quite a bit of money.

| Re: College Troubles Except the fact that if you do bad in highschool, chances are you're going to do worse in college cause the workload is 10x larger and you'll likely be out on your own making bread and strugglin to make it. |

By it being their money they are more likely to work their ass off. Some realize in the first semester that college is not for them others keep on truckin.

| Re: College Troubles Well, I know there are colleges which don't really ask for much. I know plent of people who were like him, and got into West Virginia University and are doing good. He is very smart, he is applying himself a bit more now. He is just extremely lazy.
