| Current and future plans I just realized when Gimmi told me about his plans to go into the NFL, that everybody on here has a personal situation, and goals and whatnot...
I dunno, maybe it's difficult to explain properly, but it's one of those little "eye-opening" moments where you realize that there are people behind the words on the screen, and everyone is a different person with different ideas and ambitions.
I'm rather curious as to just who you guys all are here...what you do right now and what you want to do in your life...
Right now, I'm in college getting a degree in Graphic Design. For money, I work for my dad doing internet marketing and affiliate work. I've had all sorts of career dreams in my life, everything from author to artist to my most recent goal of video game designer, but lately I've been thinking of doing things far less "grand" and just settling down into an ordinary life doing what Dad does online. The money is great, it affords an easy lifestyle, and it would allow me to live on my own terms...to be as sociable or hermitlike as I please, when I please...I dunno, it just seems like such a simpler life than dedicating my life to animating little characters on a screen in the high pressure world of game development...
So what do you guys want to do? Where are you, and where you plan on heading from here? Most of us here are pretty young, so we have our whole lives ahead of us...surely SOME of us have plans or dreams of where we want to end up in life...and I'm honestly interested. |

| I'm biding my time until I decide to get a job. I plan to get a entry-level job within the next month to start saving money for college and myself. My main focus is going to be college(I start next fall). I'm going to be majoring in computer science(don't know total specifics) and possibly learn Japanese a bit. That is as far as I am planning. Actually, I hope to get a comfy job at some big business as the tech guy that everyone relies on. Maybe something more.
I don't really want to make a total plan for my future because if one thing goes wrong, it can change my entire plan. My 'plan' is more of a guideline that is very flexible. Here is to the next four-five years! |

| Amen to you both, guys. Not knowing or not wanting to try to set anything in stone, there's nothing wrong with either.
I've heard that the computer sciences field is a pretty damn good one, although it's getting a bit higher-competition. I wish you the best. |

The tech field is very competitive, but jobs are created every day and the fields are always growing. It's remarkable. If you put in the hard work, it will definitely pay off in this field. |

| lol @ Gimmi.
And man, I can totally see Mike as being a hardass English teacher. I think you'd do well as a college English professor. It's a lot more free than high school, and you'd be able to put more of yourself into it. I absolutely loved my Comp 1 professor, and you actually remind me of him a little bit...I'm with Darkmatter in that I'd love to be in your class.
I think you'd do well in a technical field, Wing, but I can totally see you as a teacher too.
And yeah Andrew, the tech field is pretty amazing. I'm sure you'll find a great job that reflects your interests, that you do quite well and become the "goto guy" for. |

| For the next two years I'm finishing my BFA, studying animated film. By the time I'm out of school I'm hoping I'll have managed to acquire an ibook, digital slr, and continued to upgrade my desktop, so I can work on films without needing any sort of studio affiliation. When I graduate I might be in the peace corps for awhile, or I might try to be homeless for awhile. Not really sure yet. I definitely want to worry about money all the time though, so I'm kind of hoping I end up working a shitty job that has nothing to do with what I'm studying.
