Roadshow: 2008 hands-free cell phone law will have some financial teeth

Q About the new cell phone law that takes effect in 2008: Although the fine for violating the law may be a pitiful $20, there could be significant financial consequences if you have an accident while using a cell phone without a hands-free device like you being at fault for having a cell phone in your hand during the accident.

Your thoughts about this? I personally think it's a good idea. Even if the fine is 100$ I get sick of people driving slower and not paying attention because they are on their ****ing cell phones.

I agree man. Morons + Cells + Driving = I WANT TO KILL THAT DUMB ASS!

I say people should be fined $500+ for use of a cell phone while driving for the first offense! Second offense they get double the fine and the phone taken away! Third offense is triple the fine, the phone taken away, and their goddamn license revoked for at least a year!

Pulling off the road and THEN talking on the thing is fine by me.

Personally, I HATE cell phones! The only time you'll catch me with one is when its used for an emergency. Like I've run out of gas a 100 miles from the nearest town or something. Other then that, I don't want to own one, thats what pay phones are for!

some bitch on a cell phone ran into the back side of my car. it was a lovely green light for me, and she stoped at the red light but after she had made a compleate stop she kept on going then BAM what the **** just happend? I guess she thought it was a stop sign.. dumb ho. 2 other cars suffered minor injuries. man that was a ****ing hasle.
so yeah, thats a pretty good thing there.

If they pass this law, then people should get in trouble for any type of multitasking while driving. Any type of multitasking gives a risk just like talking on a cell phone.

My uncle got nailed when he was 4th threw a turning lane and some 16 yr odld bitch went to pick up a cellphone she dropped ran right threw a red and tottaled the brand new harley and just about killed my uncle.
