| Laptop help This is probably the wrong place but the place changed so I'm not sure what and where but it did say tech. Alright computer junkies I need your help! I want a high end performing laptop. I was thinking about Alienware. Yes, I know the comps are over priced because you are buying a name but the comp is still good. I was also looking at Dell's laptops. They are a bit cheaper and I believe I can build the same laptop as an Alienware. I'm not sure how to really build a laptop. I'm still looking but are there any other companies I should look into?

| My budget is very wide. I currently live in GA. Although that can change at almost anytime. :\
I'm pretty sure I'll get myself an Alienware. My friend Adam showed me AW has a much better deal with video cards then Dell would have. Despite Dell bought AW. So that's their gaming outlet now. I'll willing to pay a shinny penny for a good laptop that will be able to stay with the current high specs that games require.

| Would this laptop be used to be portable, or as a desktop replacement? |

| try cyberpowerpc, seems like same stats, seems much cheaper, and less dell-like-confusion.

| Here's the brief: Dell is much cheaper than Alienware, in terms of standard components like RAM and CPU. However, Dell's form-factor is really bland (if you care about how the machine looks, I personally don't). Alienware stocks all these really fast graphic cards for laptops, which Dell does not stock, and their laptops look very nice. You may also consider a MacBook Pro running Windows. Here's a link: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...clm=MacBookPro
That nearly USD3000 one is relatively good value for money. The specs are good, and it's very sleek too. It beats the Dell on specs and form-factor. It beats Alienware on value for money.

| Maybe, paying for software is overrated anyways. Basically, if you can get it for free: don't buy it. This applies to music, games, movies, software, etc. |

| I really don't think I need Pro. =\ Just limewire and a few good Blizzard games and movies....which brings me to another topic. I will seach google first and if the answer isn't there I will ask the experts. .
Ok, I'll bite. What free DVD ripper do you recommend?? I have a lot of DVD's that I bought but I don't want to carry around all the DVD's so ripping them to my laptop will be a hell of a lot easier.
I've googled some but there are quite a few. I want a decent, free, one. What do you guys use?

| Not really. Pro is better for wired networking and other pointless things. |
