| This will be interesting. Current democracies show that the leader of a country is rather powerless without support from the other bodies.
Perhaps we will have a new foreign policy for Americans that doesn't involve war.*

| So we have a new Sky Marshal... But do we have a new battle plan? Fleet glass the country, Mobile Infantry mops up? Or we take the cities outlying Bagdad one by one, looking for the brain? |

| I'm fairly happy with the election. I saw a quote from Pelosi yesterday and assuming she becomes speaker of the house, I might get a say in Congress. She said that she'd work for getting Washington D.C. voting representatives.
She talked about passing laws that would fight corruption in government officials, including limiting what support lobbyists can actually give. That makes me happy as well.
As for talking about security, she said that she'd work to implement the suggestions that the 9/11 commission gave. The Iraq study group will be releasing its findings soon which will hopefully lead to a better situation in Iraq.
The issue of partisanship is something that is notable as well. If the atmosphere keeps up with Bush and high ranking Democrats having conferences together and trying to work together it's a major victory for the American people. Worst case scenario, the partisanship comes back and it created two more years of gridlock in Congress...basically it means there won't be much of a change at all if this happens.
Though Pelosi stated that impeachment and cutting funds for Iraq were off the table, I do fear she will go back to her radical left wing buddies like Kerry and Rangle rather than sticking with the larger and more moderate base of the Democratic Party.
Everything said, I have high hopes for this new Congress.

| Donald "Bomb" Rumsfeld is gone - I am happy for that. I wonder if he will be charged for war crimes.*

| Nah, he can't face charges for war crimes. When you speak of crimes, you speak of a law. When you speak of a a law, you speak of its legitimacy. And when you speak of legitimacy, you need something to start enforcing it. Which Germany lacks, so the whole things falls down. |

But when the leader does something people start to complain that he/she never got "permission" to do it; whether the law was involved or not but often used as an excuse by the opposing party.

I would do the same if a world power went from a party of hot-heads to a party of peace. |

| I'm glad the Republicans don't control both Congress and the presidency, though I can't say I like the Democrats a lot more than the Republicans.

| I really don't understand why people are so upset at a president who never declared war? War was declared on U.S. far before President Bush ever got into office. Former president Clinton was under attack and did nothing. In fact, President Clinton had the chance to get Bin Ladin. What country was it that said, 'oh yeah, we have Bin Ladin come and get him.' But Clinton never did?! If anything, blame the war on Clinton. But even I'm not blaming it on him. Just the false ideas that Islam provides that all religons and cultures that aren't Islam should be destoryed. =\
