| I made a nice topic about this in the Asylum you poop. Personally I am against the death penalty..so this would fall under something I am "against".
..and yeah, a hanging? That IS barbaric.

| It's not barbaric. Honestly, I don't care either way. I haven't been following the war or anything.

| He's an Iraqi dictator who led with an Iron Fist. He had war crimes. He was tried in IRAQ with no real american oversight. They found him guilty and are sentencing him to death. Shit like this happens EVERY DAY in the middle east, and no one gives two shits about it. But no, you bring in someone that people think they know something about because they see some little blurb on FoxNews then it's suddenly "KILL THE ****ER HE DESERVES IT" or "THATSA BARBARIC AND INHUMANE DONT DO IT!"
Christ, I really don't know how some of you people function in the real world with some of the ignorant moronic shit you spew over here. Honestly. |

| before America showed up and deposed the nicest man to ever rule a country, Iraq was a happy place. They had flowery meadows, and rainbow skies and rivers made of chocolate where the children danced and laughed and played with gumdrop smiles. |

| well its about the timing that matters now that theres elections. They had to go through like 5 judges to find one that finally stayed in course and finished the job. If you ever watch C-span with his cases about all the good stuff is blocked out by this judge, we as the people are unable to decide faily because of this. Yes, his hanging is wrong, used for wealth and power.

| This should have been posted in the arcane if you actually wanted some intellectuall responces. I for one am against the death penalty -- then again he was not tried here in America. He was found guilty for the hangings of how ever many people and he himself will share that fate if the verdict is not over turned.

| Death by hanging isn't really barbaric, at least not as barbaric as the electric chair. One of the last executions in this country was a public one in a town about 7 miles away from me. The idea of hanging is that the initial fall, hopefully if youre falling fast enough, is enough to break their neck (ignore all the bullshit in the robin hood movies where they would be hanging there alive while they choke) and should they still be alive but unconcious (kinda hard with a snapped neck), then just hanging there not fully aware of whats happening the rope around their neck should finish them off. Far more humain that sending what is it? 40,000 volts? through their body and sit there in a room staring at them as their brain slowly fries. I think Saddam got off this one lightly, i was half expecting him to sentenced to be stoned to death or something.

| The trial was a farce. Look at it - it was easily the least civilised court in a while.
And this trial is disgraceful - they never managed to punish Slobodan Milošević but they managed to get Saddam Hussein under the death penalty. And Milošević didn't even course chaos in court!
Saddam was an evil man, I definitely agree with that. But the wounds will take a while to heal. That said, I suppose this is what happens when you have Americans running around in Iraq.*
