A question for Galatia

I don't know a lot about modern Greece, but I was reading up on major world religions based on number of adherents and it said that 98% of the Greek population consider themselves Orthodox Christians. I cross-referenced this with other sites and it seems to be accurate.

Interestingly, the Greeks also seem to have the most sex... 133 times a year!. And since the Greeks don't seem to have a motherload of children, I assume they use contraceptives pretty regularly.

It would seem to me that the Greek Orthodox Church, like the Roman Catholic Church, would view contraceptives as immoral. So, my question is.. am I missing something here? Considering how much sex they have, and how much of the population is Orthodox Christian... it doesn't seem to add up. Explain, and maybe I'll treat you to some anal sex .

Did you read what I wrote about contraceptives? Having sex that many times and being a part of an orthodox church that, as far as I know, doesn't exactly favor the practice seems a bit contradictory.

Edit: Actually.. could anal sex perhaps be the solution!?

First of all, the greeks (like most europeans) don't care much about what the church has to say about anything. On top of this, the Orthodox Church doesn't view sex as evil (priests are allowed to marry) and doesn't discourage contraception.

As for the frequency of sex, yes, the statistics are correct. One thing though: don't take it for granted that this is about marrital sex Greeks are also among the top cheaters and this can also explain both the frequent sex and the use of contraception.

Last but not least, as I have stated before, anal sex was *imported* to greece by the turks back in the 1400s and that's why greeks call it *ottoman sex*

Church and State are not separated in Greece. Avoiding to baptize a child can result to some quite annoying beraucratic problems in the future. But we are working on this

Because the church has some pretty bitchin' religious holidays. Seriously, there's always some religious holiday going on in Greece that involves people feasting and getting drunk.

So, basically, most people put down that they are orthodox Christians so that they can avoid issues with the government? And, if that is so, why would they still say they are orthodox Christians on a Durex poll if they really only do it in order to avoid problems with the govenrment? I'm still a bit confused.

You shouldnt be confused, mr. Leviathan. We just dont care about the church, that's all. But we dont mind declaring ourselves Orthodox Christians.
