| Sony's DRM used to hack in games? For several years now companies have battled against many online hacks and cheats with almost utter success, but recently all that has begun to fall apart. Companies such a Blizzard Entertainment with it's infamous "Warden" anti-cheating utility have had massive successes in the field of anti-cheat detection with no sign of relief against it in sight, but as of late a new program comes to the help of cheaters by complete accident. Yes, a way to avoid "Warden", a light at the end of tunnel? That is correct, thanks to Sony, cheaters are back on the road to destruction. With Sony's DRM software it is now possible to completely hide any program to bypass "Wardens" checks or any other anti-cheat program that uses the same function to check for cheaters.
Read more about it here. http://www.realtechnews.com/posts/2067
Everyone thank Sony for dropping the ball and once again ruining the gaming community, or making it popular again depending on your
outlook.
Microsoft is in controversy on if it should take action against this. Sony is really up the creek without a paddle on this one, as allot of consumer software companies, and Internet Security companies decide on what action to take against this if any. http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1884677,00.asp

| People have suggested rootkits since the day warden came out...
The problem is, any hack that does anything with a games memory function is still detectable...
Much better ways of bypassing warden than rootkitting yourself. |

| Any information on where this can be obtained? Sony removed it from everything in stores and is currently swapping out CD's with the rootkit for ones without it.

| At the risk of giving this out publicly (it is technically spyware), I won't - but it's easy to obtain (Google). You can also go messing around on eBay buying old Sony CDs.
Sony did open a giant can of worms with this. The uses of really hidden files, are, well, endless.* |

| Welcome to 2005.
Not only has Sony not put out a CD with that DRM on it since late 2005, but Microsoft put out a Windows update around that same time that will remove the DRM rootkit. Pretty much all anti-virus software programs did the same.
So not only would you need to find a CD, you'd also need to disable any anti-virus programs and Windows Update to get this to work. Add the fact that that a lot of malware programs used the rootkit to hide from virus scanners means you are opening yourself to other problems as well (which is why everyone was up in arms back then).
Try again.
