Guns

There is a stereotype going around europe that Americans love their guns more than their mothers. What are your feelings towards guns?

Why is it that everyone stereotypes America as a whole for things that are typically centered in the south?

I own guns, and the government will not take them from me.

A thing about stereotypes is that they tend to generalize.

Well, guns don't really interesting to me. I like shooting people with "safe" guns, like airsoft, but guns don't interest me. My brother has a gun next to my room and I don't really care...

i feel that there does tend to be a sterotype of americans and guns but i feel it is totally unreasonable. i think its because everyone can not accept there own problems and rebelious youth so they blame it on the americans its the same with the whole obesity issue they just pass the blame every country is just as bad as the other.
i believe that guns are ok in certain circumstances mayb with sensible people yeah but not wanna b thugs or eople who have familys. you neva no if the kids would ever find them or anything!

I am more of a fan of the hand to hand weapons. My weapon of choice would be a Sledge Hammer. I used one acouple times while working. They are awesome.

The government should not regulate the way that people choose to live. I have no problem with people owning guns, although I probably wouldn't spend my own money on a gun.

Ditto @ CB. I don't personally LIKE guns, but people should be able to have them.

i don't think any guns should be banned.
there are a lot of people who just like to collect guns and theres nothing wrong with that... i do however think that bullets should be extremely expensive and very hard to get. somewhere along the lines of $30- $40 dollars a bullet would stop most idiots from committing crimes

People should have them, but I agree with SOME of the regulations...people should be liscensed for them, and not allowed to get that liscense without a passed background check etc.

I'm not in love with guns or anything, I enjoy firing them as much as the next person...they could be taken away and I wouldn't really be heartbroken over it.

i want retrictions to the kinds of guns someone can carry. i rather dislike guns and personally i think guns should be illeagal unless you are a cop or something. one does not need to kill a deer using an AK-47!!

i would have to say you dont need guns in order to protect yourself..
in korea you cannot carry a gun even if you have a licence for hunting. so then the crimials do not have guns thus making the ordinary people safe. i mean what would they try to kill you with..a knife? that could be counterd by hundreads of possiblitys

I hunt. I own guns. I still think stricter gun laws should be enforced. The thing is, the guns that should have heavier restrictions are the ones without some form of practical use. Take an AK-47. It's already been said in this thread that you don't need one to kill a deer. I recently went to a shooting range to sight in my gun for the coming deer season. There were two other men there, both of which had automatic rifles with them. They put up targets and got ready to shoot. When the started shooting, I simply shook my head. There targets were about 5-7 yards out, and they barely hit their targets. I'm guessing that they wasted over 600 rounds of ammo. That is a waste of both time and money.

Well I myself like guns, and yes I wouldn't hesitate to use one on a person. Living in a state like this, it's a reasonable thing. I wouldn't just up and shoot anybody for no reason, but there are some people that give me "more" than enough reason to put a nice piece of teflon in them. And the thing that scares me is I might have to do it soon. Guns don't kill people. Stupid people with guns kill people.

Here's something to ponder, not necessarily my opinion:

Should the people have weapons for which to oppose the government with? And I wouldn't use the arguement of "well the government has tanks" because we've all seen what a few guys with box cutters can do. Giving people weapons gives them power to "push the panic button" so to speak when it comes down to fighting the government, especially in large groups. Do you want the public to have this kind of power? Do you think the framers of the constitution had this in mind when they wrote the second amendment?
