Myth. We use all or most of our brain.

There was a movie about a "power glove" that enabled 50% of the brain per glove. And the evil guy got both gloves and his punches were quite destructive and everything he did was just 10 times more powerful and he could multi task like crazy... preetty neat movie.

If there ARE limits, they wouldn't be based on biological needs, but the sheer number of synapses in our brains.

As to the original question: I don't think you can just claim anything is 'the most powerful thing on earth'. You see, any action can lead to an infinite number of reactions. Just think of the butterfly effect. An event as seemingly innocuous as a pebble dropping in a pond can cause an infinite number of reactions (the ripples).
Can you comprhend infinte, or a Calabi-Yau manifold?

That's an incorrect hype that has been spread amongst everyone. Your information is false. There are studies to prove you wrong. G-O-O-G-L-E.

The human mind at some times uses only a small percentage, 5%, to maybe 15% for normal, daily tasks. But for complicating tasks, visual, logical, mathematical, speech, etc., the brain can use more than 50% for all of these tasks combined in a problem.

It only matters in how much you are trying to complete or practice. Cleaning your room will use a very lower percent of your brain power than solving a rocket science equation--or doing your homework.

As far as I'm concerned, the human mind has no limits--in a practical sense. We can learn stuff we've never known before, we can learn how to do stuff we never knew how, and we know how to use more functions as practice permits.

Many would argue the capabilities of the mind in a supernatural sense. I do believe in foretelling the future and mind reading. From my personal experiences, and the line of my family, a few of us are gifted in a mind reading and future fortelling ability, a small one, nothing like famous psychics or anything. I see things every once in a while in unique situations that I end up experiencing myself 2-3 years later. I cannot upon my own will practice this ability, but every once in a while I get visions, and I know when I have visions. My older sister was the master of mind reading, based on thoughts not body language. It's really something unique and I've learned throughout time, people just need to accept it, if not, let it be. As time continues we learn more. It's all a matter if people will accept this.

By the way, if you were interested, I'm still trying to figure this mystery mentioned. I'm practicing the skill any way I can. But like I said, time goes on and so does knowledge.

Power in terms of what?

Oh, and for those of you arguing about the limits of the human brain and how much of it we use: If we don't use the brain to its full potential, how are we supposed to know if it's truly limited? Also, it's not how much of our brain we use, it's how we use it.

If someone were able to use his brain to its full potential and take full advantage of it, then and only then would we know the limits of our brain.

Edit:

thebastardsword: The most powerful creature on earth is the Rhinoceros Beetle in terms of body size/weight/mass. If humans were as strong as Rhinoceros Beetles, we'd be able to lift an army tank over our head.

What I was wondering is how we could use more of our brain? I know we only use an average of abomut 10% but how can you truly reach your brain's capacity. I agree that the brain is one of the most powerful things. It's limits have never even begun to be tapped.

We don't use all of our brain to store information, thats right, but not because we don't need it. Because we can't.
Reflexes can be supressed. For example when you touch something hot your hand jerks away, but if you intentionally hold your hand to a hot objct it stays there. If you request it I will post the mechanism for this.

Hormones can be altered artificially as well as neurotransmitters.

You do have a point in that not all parts of the brain can be used in data storage. There is a lot of specialization in the brain, and many of the parts have functions not relted to consciousness.

IMO the most powerful thing ever is DNA. It is everything, without it their is nothing. No earth, no nuclear bombs, no water, no mind or anything else debated here.
