the bible was never ment to be taken seriously. A lot of it was used to help people understand aspects of religion and faith. remember people werent NEARLY as smart back then.
If God and jesus were real would they need to make up fake stories? If it were all true they would just have to put the truth and wait for the followers. But instead they put all that fake crap in there to trick you?

Hitler used Christianity as a tool to gain power. He said he was but he really didn't practice any aspects of it. Here's nice a little quote from Hitler for you:
"And so I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator. In standing guard against the Jew I am defending the handiwork of the Lord."

Many stories back in those times weren't meant to teach. For example, the Indians (in India) used different stories to teach rulers how to become fair kings. Back then they didn't have books called "Ruling India for Dummies". Stories were used a lot for teaching different aspects of many things such as ruling with the Indians, or just how to live a good and just life such as in the OT. As for the NT, a lot more of that then the OT is actually to be taken actually asit was written such as the Gospels, the letters, acts of the apostles, etc.

Sum it up: Stories were meant to teach a lot back then because they didn't have "(insert somethig here) for dummies".

The Bible is, in a sense, God's perfect word written by imperfect people. Whenever people write something, no matter how hard they try you're always going to get some of their personal opinions and other things that reflect the time they lived in. The lessons are still good, but you probably shouldn't take it all literally since it wasn't written by God himself.

A lot of people call themselves Christians but don't practice what they preach. And some, like Hitler, believe they are doing "the will of God" no matter how terrible their actions are :/

i believe in god but at the same time i can't help to think that we just made up the illusion of a god so that in times of peril we have something we can turn our hopes to, like if you're very sick and you have no one to go to you always pray to god and that makes you feel relieved...

or, is it that we made an illusion that there is no god when there is one...sometimes ill walk in the garage, stare at something, then walk back inside a few hours later i ask my mom where the thing is and she says it wa right in front of me in the garage. it is still very easy for you to miss what your looking for, even when you are looking right at it

let me see if i can make sense of that last sentance...

houdini(the world renown...i guess world renown) escape artist was asked to tr to escape a prison on the east coast of the usa(i think boston). he was placed in a jail cell and he claimed that he could escape in under something like a minute. he gets in the cell and starts the count down. he pulls out his tools and begins his work on the door. a minute passes...he begins sweating. 2 minutes pass....10...20...30...40...50...after 50 minutes he says he gives up and asks what the guard did with the door. the guard pulled the jail door aside and said it was unlocked the whole time.

If you include atheism, and being agnostic in that statement, it might actually have some truth to it.

How about this:

There is some truth in every religion. Not one religion is completely true.

Well um *cough* I've always been told that God has his own reasons
for why he doesn't intervene when it comes to certain things.

They said it to me like this:
"God works in mysterious ways. We may not understand
why things happen but they happen for a reason."

AZN_FLEA, Hitler is FAAARR from being a Christian.
Not only did he burn the bible, he burnt God's people, the jews.

These are the people who refuse to accept the fact that God may not exist. Beliefs are no good if they're infallible. Sure, maybe "God works in mysterious ways," or maybe people cause problems and use this as their excuse because they're not doing anything to help. It seems like such a stupid concept to me, to push everything off on God :/ I see why Christians are looked down upon.
