How do you become Gay/Lesbian?

Me and this girl I work with got into a debate about how you become Gay/Lesbian.

She says "your born gay and you figure it out as you get older."

I say, "It all as to do with your lifestyle as you grow up. I mean if your raped as a young girl, you may never want to have sex with a man again. So you become lesbian."

What do you guys/girls think?

Homosexuality has many causes. Studies have proven that genetics are responsible for some gays. The child abuse theory is also a factor (though an extremely rare one one making up a very small percentage of gays). Some ppl are gay because of the how they were raised. And I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons.

However, it's generally agreed upon by the sexual and mental health community that homosexuality is rarely ever reversable and that Reparative Therapy is a barbaric and inneffective procedure.

Actually your instincts tell you to be attracted by woman so in theory you are born straight, if you for some reason go against your instincts and are not atracted by woman, then you are gay, it could be for many reasons or just beacuse you want it. and sry for myt spelling im just learning english.

Process to become gay:
1) Get born
2) Grow (optional)
3) Introspection (optional)
4) figure out that you aren't aroused at all by (wo)men (optional)
5) you are gay!

The reasons that some of those are optional, is because sometimes it needs no self-exploration. For an example, a co-worker of mine said that he had always been gay. He never really questioned it, and his parents weren't the type to freak out if he "came out," so he's always been "out." Thus, he just is gay, the way some people are straight.

Edit: Also, for a gay male, (by the sexual abuse conjecture) to "turn gay," wouldn't he have to be raped by a woman? And how many people are raped by women? Certenly less then are gay, I'd wager.

No, your putting words in my mouth. I dont hate everyone, just gay males. I dont dislike them because of there race. I dislike them becuase i dont age with there choice. Its like saying no to pot, but im sayin no to gay people, and by makin this choice I dont feel like I'm missing out at all.
