Personal beliefs and politics

Im wondering what your opinion is about if personal belifs should be the same as political belifs. Like for example, john kerry personally doesnt agree with gay marrage but he still thinks that it should be allowed from a political standpoint. I dont want this to turn into another gay marriage debate thread that was just an example. but im just seeing what you think

i think that it is okay to have your religious beliefs and political beliefs the same. i just don't think you should use your religion to justify your political platform, like using the bible to say gay marrige is wrong, now using human psychology to prove it's good/bad/indifferent to children is okay.
