| State Test a scam? I have been reading a book for english class written by Ralph Nader called "Crashing the Party" He made a point with standarized test. Check this out, it is crazy.
"Created by consulting firms that saw the corprate management of public schools as a profitable objective, these test appear to be designed to show that public education was not working because so many students flunked. Experience in Texas with such manipulation lead to high drop out rates for highschool students under Gov. Bush. This testing tyranny forces the schools to teach the test, which themeselves are narrow-scoped and misleading yardsticks. There is plenty of evidence to show thayt behind these test is a commercial ideology planning to take over more and more of the $320 billion spent annually on schools." |

| Misleading yardsticks? In california public schools, we take the "CAT6" (they come up with the lamest names). And damn it, it's so easy... that I dunno why they bother to test us.

Also as Mr.Nader pointed out it causes teachers to teach the test not what they should be teaching us. |

| i take the cat6 cuz i live in california! its easy yes, but if students do well, teacher salary goes up as well as the property worth where the school has jurdistiction over. so the better you do on the test, it benefits other but not you. most students like you and me think its stupid because there is no reward for us.
now, i dunno about you induvidahl(sorry bout the sp) but in my area, we take an "exit" exam to get out of highshcool and an cat6 test. i believe that the "exit" exam should be incorperated into the cat6 in order to save taxpayers money and students time.
