People Becoming Average,

People think they are smart. Everyone wants to be smart, If everyone is Smart, Then smart is average, Are we Actually Getting smarter? Or are we Becoming less intelligent. Still Smart, But not as an individual , as a whole. What ever Happened to break out Genius's Such as PLato, Einstein, Gallileo, Shakespeare.. Etc. Our world needs something new. Something Bold and Bright, Everything has become so modernized. People arn't learning new things. No (recently) New maths Or sciences. Yes there have been improvements in Technology, But not in man,
We are nothing but a Organism seeking a tool to make life easier.

Nothing new willl Be accomplished If Everyone is average, What marks do you People recieve in school? Are you "average".. I for one hope that somone, Somewhere will exceed Limits and change this world for the Best, Because all I see in the future Is average.

Thx for your Time, :wavey

We arn't really getting smarter, but we arn't getting any more dumb. People like Plato, Enistein and Gallileo come once and a while, but are unheard of. The guy that made the new bomb...forgot what it's called, but they don't even wanna launch it because of this;

Picture this, an island the size of Honolulu, completely empty. Americans we to this island, and dropped a PROTOTYPE of this bomb, roughly 1% of the power of a real one. 200 Miles away they saw it go off. 150Miles away they saw the title wave finally end. When they finally got back to the island, there was NO evidence at all that it EVER existed. Not above water, not under water. That was a prototype thats roughly 1% of the real one. They guy that found the forumla for that isn't well known.

Anyway, I'm above average with some stuff, below average with others. I'm pretty sure everyones like this.

By the way, Shakespear is a joke. He stole ALL his work from other stories that some chick wrote. What a douche,

I posted something in the Asylum that somewhats relates to what your talking about. Its about why I appreciate idiots:

Aristotle was the bomb. o.O.

You mean that new one that destroyes buildings but doesnt slaughter humans? Hydrogen bomb? I dont know --;.

If you have too many smart people, eventually a struggle will occur because of conflicting intellects. I think I read once that a small amount of people, all with very high IQ's, were placed on an island (Not from your guys' nuke thing). A lot of people expected them to thrive as a small society, but instead fights broke out because all of them wanted everyone else to do the hard labor.

This is also one of the reasons why communism fails ^_^. People with potential on the same par with those of lower intellects eventually seperate themselves out into an upper and lower class, even if you try to restrict it.

We could have a society like Brave New World, where everyone is brainwashed from birth to believe that whatever class they are, A to E, is superior to the other classes.

The saying we learn something new everyday is true. We can not get any less smarter even if you get brain damage. The human brain always has the knowledge noone just knows.

All answers are there. All answers are here.

You know something but you need the experience to unravale it. Its like a brain teaser.

I'll ask my history teacher what the bomb is called tommorow, and I'll look it up, and show you some sources.

Also, it's been proven that Shakespear had a mistress or two that would write novels, and he stole them and turned them into plays. Just look around, I'm not going to do your work for you.

I'm just average, but I know a kid that's absolutely amazing. He's 6 years old and he can multiply 2 3-digit numbers in his head quickly and get the right answer everytime. He also goes to the library 3 times a week to study about a random famous person. It's absolutely amazing to see. His parents don't want him to go to a special school for gifted kids though because they want him to live a normal life.

Access to information is so much easier now than it was in the times of Plato. People marveled in Socrates' knowledge, but today there are just as highly intellectual people, we simply don't marvel them because they are normal by today's standards. Ugh, that came out wrong.

In terms of the accumulation of knowledge, many people are equal to Socrates, but in terms of innovatiness, Socrates is superior.

Also, today's population is much more than what it was in the days of Socrates, Plato, and what not; say if you had 1000 people, and 1 out of them were like Socrates, you would have 50 of them if there was 50,000 people.

MeH.

There will always be plenty of idiots out there. Although some of you seem comfortable putting yourselves on par with such great men as Socrates, you shouldn't.

There is within everyone the potential to do great things. There will always be lots of people to squander their gifts.

As for todays geniuses. Steven Hawking is one great example. Watson and Crick discovered the helical structure of DNA decades ago. It is easier to look back on someone such as Barbara McClintock and say now that woman is a genius. Or maybe Linus Pauling, one of the greats of Organic Chemistry. Dead for about 10 years. It is much easier to take a look back at a body of research over the course of a persons life than to recognize someone that is doing great things now.

A few more recent great minds, and some older ones: Arnie Levine, James Watson(1928), Francis Crick(1916), Rosalind Franklin(1920-1958), Sydney Brenner(1927-), Barbara McClintock(1902-1992), Erwin Schrodinger(1887-1961), Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac(1902-1984), Albert Einstein(1879-1955), Heisenburg(1901-1976)

one of the best places to find the brightest names today is the list of nobel laureates http://www.nobel.se/nobel/index.html

It's really not people getting brighter generally but people getting more average. Really the new acheivments are just not as heralded because people just don't understand science at a high level generally. Or to put it more bluntly people ignore what they don't understand so they can makethemselves feel smarter.

NAyway I ran out of energy, i'm going to sleep now.
